Yeah, I've never used sealants and stuff so prefer to stick with what I know, hence clinchers. Wouldn't want the spray gunk to fail half way through a race.
It looks too small to me but I'm no expert and you're on the tops and possibly shuffled up a bit if you're slowing quickly. Get your bike on a trainer and have someone look at you while riding or take a photo. You can then get some idea of how much air you're catching. Adjust, test, adjust, test, etc.
