  • it's probably gonna be reynolds 631 with columbus life on the rear. when i designed it, i started from ST/TT, then added the ST/HT angles, then BB height, found an OK fork rake (it should actually be bar-spinnable), and brought in measurements for the chainstay. i did want a short wheelbase, but that sort of was a result of all the other decisions. originally i was going to try to have interchangable wheel sizes, with caliper mounts that fit 700x23 for touring and summer riding, and removable canti mounts for winter (canadian winter) and cross. i decided to scrap that idea and just roll 26" year round. the dropouts will be rear-facing with a hanger from either paragon or surly, so i can run a 5-7 speed for long hauls.

ricky is also building the fork, and things will be lugged where possible. it will be fillet brazed where lugs can't suit, or be modified. ricky offered to manufacture custom lugs but it's a bit too much for my budget. he's doing a frame for another guy in leeds where all the lugs are custom. not sure how the rear stays will fit in since i'm not a framebuilder, but the chainstay is 10mm longer than typical for 26" so i don't suspect it will be a problem?

i'm pretty excited for this bike since not only will it be a great bike for polo, but it should be incredibly comfortable to ride 100k+.
