13.5lbs (6.12kg) allegedly
(a little heavier with a real chainring, but could be lighter with no brake and some chopped bullhorns.) :) food for thoughtSeems like a lot of money to spend on a Langster. But if it fits well and you like the ride...

yeah i've never even ridden one, i can't imagine the ride would be a problem though - despite looking a bit crap i think they have a good rep for comfort and handling.
I'm just getting some ideas for a lightweight build really, the reason I was leaning towards langster - is I could potentially get one cheap on the bay, sell off unwanted components, and start with a relatively light alu frame and spend some cash on parts
Dolan track champ framesets are a reasonable price, and light (er) ? perhaps, and even with a relatively heavy wheel build I dont think they tip the scales -
agh too much to think about, will see what pops up

I doubt the track champ is lighter than the langster. Its built for stiffness, with far less emphasis on weight saving.

track champ 1520 grams -
langster 1587g
so, with errors and optimistic weighing, different frame sizes etc, taken into account, theyre probably about the same.
although, i'd imagine the langs would come in at a quarter of the price of a new track champ frameset
maybe a quarter is optimistic, i'd pay 100 notes for a langster frameset with forks headset and bb - possibly. (before research)

These are pretty light. :)

1500 - 1600g is going to be the average weight for a cheap alu frame. That is why is will always be expensive to get to 6.5kg. Average weight of mid range components are around the following and that gives you 6.7kg. Going lighter on any of the below gets expensive.
Frame 1.5
Fork 0.5
Wheels 1.8
Cranks/bb 0.8
Bar/stem 0.5
Seat/post 0.4
Chain 0.3
Pedals 0.3
Tyres/tub 0.6 -

It's a great time to have £500 to spend on an OTP. Between the Langster Steel and the Fuji Feather, there are some lovely looking bikes out in the world.

Front brake only, profile airwing bars, ITM tt lever are the only things that i've changed that would make a difference to the weight, got a new back wheel, chainring and sprocket but they are basically the same weight as the parts they replaced. 6.5 kilos is optimistic, but possible.
