Thanks to coppi I got me some knee length socks. How do I wear them inconjuntion with breeks?
I assume a gap isn't acceptable, so the socks go over the bottom of the breeks?

When is Easter this year? Hope it's not on Easter, because I'm away.
Also, it's my birthday on the 10th, so it would be grand to be there.- Northern Graeme + g/f

to tie the flashes, pull the socks up over your knees. tie them in a square not and fold the sock tops over. let the flashes hang out.
the hunt style seems to be to pull the tops of your socks over the breeks. though i think it's a bit tacky (and don't get me started on the wellies)
socks under plus-fours is the way to go.

So if the local constabulary are limiting participation to 400 will they be out to accompany on our ride. If so we really should make an effort to get them into appropriate attire?

You'd think the Boston Tea Party never happened.
Not really.
They're able to use perhaps six or seven lines of text if they punctuate it with tons of images:
http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/blike-cycling-blog/2010/01/snow-fun-anymore-we-miss-our-b.html
I get the distinct impression that they don't care about the bike blog at all, and that they just have a standard staffer knock out a new post on a schedule with no thought going into it at all. They must've loved it when the press release arrived from the tweed run, they get to launch into their standard flow of vitriol rather than have to try and pretend to like cycling.
