I wouldn't use chainsaw oil, if you have ever used a chainsaw you will know that you need to top up the oil every time you refuel it. I know you're not doing the same revolutions as a chainsaw, and not pushing your chain through wood, but it's just not designed to stay on the chain for a long time. I would use something much thicker, I don't think chainsaw oil would be too good in the rain
I use castrol chain wax, mostly because it was left over when I sold my motorbike, but it works well and I'll definitely consider buying it again
