  • what sort of cheese is the lockring?

  • some sort of french cheese

  • ah.. ok i'm out, don't like french cheese,

Have you now decided to go with a completly different wheelset?
Or are you just getting a brand new set.

  • cheese?

  • well i was planning on using them to take to herne hill, but im not sure what to do now. i dont think im gonna bother buying another set, not for the time being anyway, i have openpro x goldtec which are pretty die hard wheels so i wont need another set particularly soon

  • what about the saddle? need a flite

  • are you located in a bikeshop? able for pick up? very interested

  • cheese?

    yep, looks like this.

I see, i reckon they would have been pretty damn good at herne hill. The main thing is you and the frame are ok.

well the frame is sweet as a nut, and as long as i get all the money from the driver i'll be fine,

  • yep, looks like this.

yep i recommend a dura ace lockring or something even beefier

  • I'll come by the shop later this afternoon. when do you close?

  • yep i recommend a dura ace lockring or something even beefier

Mavic only fit mavic lockrings. Dura ace and Campag won't fit.

Its the mavic lock ring or nothing.

33.5 mm × 24 TPI Campagnolo, Gipiemme, Phil Wood, Miche
1.29" × 24 TPI Shimano, Suntour, Formula, Dimension, Suzue, Surly, Zipp, Corima
    33.0 mm × 1 Mavic

  • wrong! my dura ace lockring fit and worked fine

  • I'll come by the shop later this afternoon. when do you close?

we close at 5 today, im not working today, but can go in to meet you. what time were you planning?

  • wrong! my dura ace lockring fit and was better than the mavic one by a lot

Well, its the wrong size and you have damaged the threads. Sorry dude, they are a different, close, but different enough to cause damage. check out my handy chart.

  • hmmm well the threads looked fine to me giz, i'll have to make a closer inspection to make sure

post number 2, the guy says he used a dura ace lockring....

odd, because the threads are french.

  • 4:00 , would that be ok?

  • 4 is fine i'll be in my own clothes so just ask for Fred

  • ok, cheers

And he too had knackered the threads then.

I checked all this with business cycles and mavic because the hub on my mavic wheel cannot be replaced and cost somewhat more than an ellipse so I didn't want to bugger it.

  • well ill inspect the threads before i sell it and let you know. if you ask mavic though they'll just tell you only use mavic
