  • I do 5-8 hours of yoga and pilates a week.

On a fencing training camp I did a couple of years ago there were a number of Olympic pathway contenders. Most of them lacked core strength and stability though the British number one who had been doing strength and conditioning training with chris hoy and co in Manchester had a similar level of core strength to me

yoga and pilates don't do much for beach muscles but really help with deep core

If you want to do a bit of weightlifting when you are next brum for shits & giggles, give me a shout. I am actually pretty great at teaching/coaching it.

Taught my sister to front squat, squat clean, snatch, and press all in one session from scratch.

Weightlifting can do a lot of good for the cyclist, the core stability elements will have a lot of carryover for fencing. The power development may help too, but I do not know enough about fencing to be sure.
