Stolen bikes

Wait... So did you just forget where you left it? Or did they find the key for your lock, take your bike and lock it somewhere else?

The bike was stolen from outside my friends appartment, it was locked through frame and rear wheel. Left it for about 5 min.

Alltough the bike was found today by a dude on the fixedgear.se forum.
No damages, still locked.

The ride home was the best ride in while :)

It was still locked with my lock.
I used a ABUS Granit Futura mini, and it´s still intact, still works perfect. Guess I can recomend it, maybe on the more expencive side.

Abus Granit Futura on test, is not a lock to put faith in. You're lucky you got your bike back.

No, the Mercian was not locked, you have to get through two doors, both of which were left unlocked, its also up six flights of stairs. The lock was left around the bars, which was stolen as well! The entire reason i took it up is that i didnt want it stolen and i though that would be the safest place.

Without trying to make it worse, why did you not use the lock buddy? 6 flight of stairs isn't that much and 2 unlocked doors aswell?

PLEASE keep your eyes out for my beloved FIXED gear bike! It was stolen before my very eyes in front of sainsburys whitechapel on Saturday night 23-01-2010, 6:20pm ... I saw the bastard getting away, but I couldn't catch him. The bike was put together from scratch and it was very unique! I am devastated! :..( I hope that if I spread the word enough it will turn up again on the streets of east london! Thanks everyone for your help!

almost the same thing happened to me in Tesco's on Whitchapel road... good luck trying to find it.

I found a bike last night on the pavement on Mildmay Park N1, unlocked and clearly abandoned. I locked it and watched it for a bit and then took it in. It is a big old (10 yrs) Coventry Eagle orange mountain bike. It's not up to much but it might mean something to someone. I have reported it to the police and will be taking it to the local nick as soon as I get a chance. In the mean time if anyone is missing a bike from their shed, its in my back yard.

saw a black felt tk3 track bike with red logos, black drops and front brake being wheeled out of uni today. reason i think it stolen is the owner was wearing hipster shoes when the bike had clipless pedals. or they just have £700 to burn to look cool.

No-one ever saw this did they? Stolen (built-up) from Hackney (surprise) last summer. It's probably baby fucking blue now.
I figured it'd be OK to post a quick reminder, stuff turns up sometimes...

easy guys, been browsing the forum for a while and this first post is under unfortunate circumstances!

last night got my schwinn cutter robbed from my back garden in clapham, just near clapham common tube, the bike is pretty crappy but my trusty commuter and now i will unfortunately need to use public transport :( just a heads up if anyone in the area might see an all black, no decals crappy looking single speed with some lime green grips on it, would be much appreciated. going to have a look up brick lane tomorrow and keep an eye on gumtree but bit of a nightmare all the same.

Bastardos! Some ruffian has nicked my 58 black 2010 Langster from outside Charing Cross hospital. They were kind enough to leave my front wheel (I'd locked it up all wrong...), but if anyone sees a Langster missing it's front wheel let me know!

Not too highly modded, changed the front to a silver 48t from the original 42t sugino, black BMX pedals, missing decal on left hand side top tube...

As the rozzers are unlikely to find it, any suggestions for a new build? Fancy putting a hack together, starting from scratch (I have a 700 front wheel to get me going!)

find an old road bike, and then change it a bit, should be a lots cheaper (and one that fit).

That was what I was thinking, cheers edscoble, might get a frame with forks and go from there...
