The main reason though is to allow some suspension through the use of thinner diameter curved tubes without the weight and complexity of suspension forks.
Jones forks weigh almost the same as Pace carbon rigid forks but are stiffer and offer more comfort at the same time.
As with all jones products they're designed first and foremost to offer the best ride regardless of whether they follow traditional rules or look like regular bikes.Thats what I was trying to say TBH.
I would add that the design, probably does'nt lend itself too well to mass production. But as you said...they're designed first and foremost to offer the best ride.

its an east german textima, as you can read on the page before...
Similar to Michael Hübner's WC Sprint bike, but slightly different.
Same gusset near BB shell, but a bit different seat lug and remaining gussets.
Looks like same builder, but different frame. -

I talked today with my old messenger friend in East-Berlin. And suddenly we reached the topic soviet track bikes. And he just said - " The Russians had the most beautiful and coolest track bikes. They combined simple design and nice technique. I would prefer an old soviet frame than a japanese one"
Well and I just thought...
Fuck Yeah !
Sprint - sexy chromed lugs and a very modern, for that time, square drivetrain
Sport - one of the "simple" models for semiproffessional use. These sick russians were one of the first who used carbon fibre from aircraft in cycling.
And last but not least the most innovative soviet track frame - "Taichon TT edit."
a sick extrem bike with a sick position, nice western components and a dream wheel basesick russians...

@disaled
Non matching wheels and tyres, perennially anti-porn Thomson lay back post, about a yard of untrimmed brake cable and to top it all off a nasty docker's omelette on the decking. If that's porn, it's a dirty drunk bird behind the bins.i like it! i have a soft spot for non matching tyes though too..

To be precise, these are Soviet bikes from the Kharkov factory located in Ukraine (it's like "Empire Made" stamp on goods didn't mean the same as "Made in England")
