  • So I am choosing a new build on Cyclescheme and have narrowed it down to two:

    Volume Cutter raw with Starfucker trick fork: Heavy, but solid and can do virtually any trick that I wanted to learn how to do.

    Leader 722TS with carbon / alu fork: Light and fast, but won't barspin or put up with too much abuse.

    Which way would you go and why? Anyone been faced with this sort of choice before?

  • Both will have H Plus Son wheels.

  • I would opt for the one that is fastest in a straight line.

  • Personally I'd go for a bike that I can actually ride on the road.

  • Personally I'd go for a bike that can take mad hits from pot holes

    :D

  • srsly, i'd got for the trick side. just for the starfucker name. yeah, i'm a starfucker, so what? i fuck stars.

  • Yeah it's looking like the Leader. I have an MTB conversion that will bar spin etc and I dont really care if I break it.

  • I would get a shoper. More your style.

  • if you removed the front brake, you can barspin.

  • I would get a shoper. More your style.

    Errrrr...... I actually had one of those until about 3 months ago:

  • windtunnel test shootout.

    YouTube- Bicycle Wind Tunnel Test

  • does anyone know what the steal leaders are like? - only really seem to be reports on the alu ones and this crap thread on velospace

    I was having a little look for modern steel track frames and found these on tokyofixedgear:

    looks quite nice IMO

  • Yeah they look nice. Almost certainly going to have lots of horror stories to read when I get back from ordering mine though obviously.

  • I would rather ride the Volume that that Leader. I had a Volume BMX and it was awesome.

  • Why are you restricted to those bicycle? what about the other option like the trustworthy IRO? Steamroller? FBM Sword? etc.

  • FBM sword with matching forks in any colour with all black modern components.

  • Or an all-silver component;

  • get this

  • Never forget the Fatty factor. Leader FTW!

  • Or an all-silver component;

    That is one of the nicest FBM sords I have seen. I ride one of there BMX's but have never really liked the sord. That looks good though.

  • Why are you restricted to those bicycle? what about the other option like the trustworthy IRO? Steamroller? FBM Sword? etc.

    Tokyo Fixed Gear are right by my office and have both in stock. IRO's seem hard to get hold of and Steamroller's seem to be everywhere. I like the look of the FBM Sword, but not sure where stocks them? I'm doing this on CycleScheme.

  • I think you should go for the steamroller over the leader, there's a reason why everyone ride them.

  • I think you should go for the steamroller over the leader, there's a reason why everyone ride them.

    Not sure I know that reason and I have had three of them?

    For me they are just easy to get hold off and they can run big tyres.
    But they are not the most exciting ride which is why I end up changing them. The leader looks good and could be used with a carbon fork for a modern look steel bike. (appreciate Steamroller fork could be swapped out but more of a waste seeing that it comes with the frame)
