i just re-charged the batteries after a month on normal beam.
and i always carry 2 AA's as back-up.That's all well and good, but how many cars out of 100 on average would mistake you for a Moped?
What I'm saying is, what is the light's 'Mistaken for Moped' or 'MFM' range? Anywhere between 25-50% is excellent. I think the British Standard is 1-10%.

cunt.
some prickly little kid nearby stolen my light because the new neighbour upstart can't be bothered to close the entrance properly.
now that the landlord have a proper reason to go up to the neighbour again (neighbour don't care about the door) and tell them off, he'll force them to pay for the stolen light.
least I got a good relationship with the landlord for him to do that.
Are you thinking out loud?

I've finally updated the list in post 6.
The Romisen lights do look like amazing value.

anyone used the blackburn flea usb light?
purely as a be seen flashy thing?
thinking of getting a front one, i have a cateye twin led if i want to light the road up but i want something small and convenient (the usb means i can top up the charge easily)I've got a set too - reccomended - be sure to get a USB kit with it though, I burned through about a tenner's worth of batteries before I thought a USB might have been worth it. Got one now. Smashin'

Agreed. I only have the battery charger ones which are useful if you're nowhere near a computer! The lights are extremely bright for their tiny size but they need to be charged regularly. The battery you charge from also makes a huge difference.
A further thing I'd like to criticize is the velcro strap. While it's a good idea, I find the strap too long so I have to fold it over to avoid the excess strap blocking the beam. Also, it's weak. I've snapped the two straps I had just from tightening them and have now resorted to using elastic bands. If possible, get the front and rear individually, one with a USB charger which will be more reliable, and one with the battery charger.

Hey does anyone uses Ay up lights?
Im off to Australia in couple of weeks and I was thinking of getting a set. Heard very good things about them but would like to get some more opinions.

Almost certainly. The question is how fast can you go, and what is it like when cars are coming the other way? I have often ridden unlit roads with just a cateye el-510 on low - far dimmer than the fenix. I close my left eye when there is a car coming so i will still have one dark-adapted eye when they have gone, and i sometimes take a second el-510 which i turn on at full power just to descend quicker. The brighter your lights are, the less you can see outside their beam.
thats cllever. gonna remember that

So I've signed up for the Dorset Dash, therefore am after a half decent light to see where I'm going. I have plenty of lights for commuting undeer street lights, but none that will light the road for 6 hours from dusk til dawn. Obviously the Hope V1 is an option but I would rather spend a little less than £70 as it's only really going to be used for one night then put away until winter. I've looked at the Fenix LD20 and L2D, but again, they are a little pricey.
Any other suggestions, or am I going to have to shell out for this kind of power? -

The Fenix is pretty cheap for a decent light, I seriously doubt you could get a bright light for £25ish.
-
• #565
Get a couple of these and some spare batteries.

I had thought this would likely be the case. Ah well. -

This, plus lots of spare (charged) batteries and a lock block holder?

I bit the bullet and got a Light and Motion Stella 150L.
A very nifty little unit and bloody bright and doesn't look like a brick strapped to the bars. It works really well on the Cornish Lanes even in lowest setting. I will get to test the Retinas of London road users this week, but more than confident it will do the job.
Will try and post some pics at night as it's much better than i expected.

I use hope 2l.e.d. on a helmet mount everyday just because I bought it trade for night riding.for some reason everyone asks what am I filming? which could possibly mean that during the day with it on but not operating drivers may be more careful. but that’s not peer reviewed, so don’t believe it.

They're sure to steer you well.

I would have gone for Dinottes, but it just worked out well with the Stella. The battery pack isn't too much of a problem, certainly not heavy, but the short-ish lead is restrictive i s'pose, but too long would leave dangerous draping leads all over the place. meh, not a problem yet. will see how it goes over the next few months.

South Downs Bikes are doing the Exposure Spark for £49.99. It takes obscure camera batteries, but as I have loads in a cupboard at work it suits me fine. The mount is crap. It looks nice and is tiny and lightweight.

exposure joystick 2 plus maxx rear light write up.
i've had the exposure joystick 2 plus the maxx red rear plug in light, since july last year. they have done most types of weather without a fault. the only gripe i have is recently when recharging it, the charger or the light itself seems to think it is fully charged when it is not. i'm guessing this is a case of a dry or dirty joint somewhere, as rotating the charging plug in the socket of the joystick seems to resolve the issue and allow it to charge properly. this can affect the rear light too, it needs a rotation in the socket before it fires up properly. gonna keep an eye on it before i send it back for a warranty claim.
still, 9.5/10. f'ing amazing little light. the rear is a life saver on the roads near me.

thanksI've been using a set for the last 2 winters. Great lights, small, light, bright with great run time. There are more powerful lights out there, and probably cheaper ones too, but Arups are a great light set, and perfect for MTB too.
or, get a romisen RC-P3 - 100 lumens, 2 x AA, High mode only (no flashing) £10. fantastic auxillary floodlight
