This bike would be a far better bet for people wishing to only spend £80 I would think and the only ugliness to worry about is on the potential riders mismatched tracksuit ensemble :-)
Your implied point that for that price individual components are likely to be better quality than on a geared MTB-style BSO is of course taken. But with bikes like that, there's always something about them being outside of any aesthetic categories--e.g., not even making an attempt at a diamond frame, which this one does, and, I think, fails tragically.
That said, I don't like it if people buy cheap shit landfill BSOs quite generally, be it MTB or fixie-bouncie.
