How effective are these helmets? They look like they wouldn't do anything!
Looks like what we called a "Trott" helmet, named after German legend Wilfried Trott (and his father), but it isn't one. I think it's a cheaper version. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilfried_Trott
I both cases, I guess it has no SNELL/ANSI/ASTM approval and it's illegal in races and track training. If you want to use it for your own rides (no supervision of Unions): do as you please.
Sometimes I ride without a helmet. Compared with that, this helmet looks more safe.
I still have a similar helmet (no Trott), but there was never a good connection between the inner and outer parts, which makes it a bit uncomfy.
The looks are the same though, except fro the head in it...
