You write as if it was your duty was to defend people who drive expensive cars though.
People choose to spend their money on what they want but let's not say it is not harming anyone. Everything we do has an impact. If I choose to have something that I really do not need then I am responsible for wasting resources and for depriving people. It is like sharing food with 10 people. If I put half of the dish on my plate then there is less for the others. We are all responsible of our actions.
To buy something for just a status symbol is wasteful. A 500k Ferrari to a £5 sparkly jumper at Asda just to show off make people terribly unhappy and grasping. We have been fooled into thinking that having the best things will contribute to our happiness but look at the grief when those things are taken away from us or when we can't get them.
I don't feel it's my duty to defend people who drive expensive cars, in fact i've said above that I wouldn't drive a car like that in the city because I don't see the point in it, i'm arguing from another viewpoint because no one else is and without that it's simply a barrage of put downs to people who drive expensive cars, which I think is ignorant and unfair.
Polo is a lot cheaper than a Prius. As for harm.. well, why is there a big push to reduce emissions if there's no harm in them? What about the road toll? I don't mind people owning cars. I encourage them to choose other methods of travel where possible though.
What I meant was that they're not directly harming people, yes of course they give out pollution, but like I said that Audi shown above is a perfectly acceptable everyday car to most people, yet it's more inefficient than an Enzo, yet if that drove past you, you wouldn't feel anything towards it as it looks more discreet, I personally think pollution is pretty far down the rankings in terms of why people hate people who drive supercars.
well everyone has their vices, my manager has 10 mint steel bikes and a nice collection of seiko watches, JK has a thing for cars.

Exactly, everyone has a thing they like to spend money on, if someone chooses to spend all their money on a nice car, so be it.
