No need to upgrade, don't waste your money.
You can spend money on something that's ligher and stiffer but are you pushing your steamroller to the edge?
Probably not, stockpile some bits that wear out for when you're broke.
probably not a bad idea.

Here it is, my Feather. I'm spraying the wheels black and lacquering them this week. New stem and bars hopefully from the cycle jumble at the velodrome. Massive props to Ricky for hookin me up and makin me the raw ass forks. More pics soon maybe.
looks really good, love feva's frames especially the down tube decals and properly nice fella and great work to boot

get off this bike obsessed forum immediately with that sort of talk

Pursuit bars, definitely. Risers on lo-pros are about as wank as it's possible to get.
But comfortable.

What are the best cranks for up to about £150? I fancy upgrading from the Andel that came on my steamroller but don't want to spend too much. is it possible to get something new and good for that much? would £150 buy an upgrade - I think the andel's are pretty average.
not sure what bb is in there, but I think it is sugino. Ideally after something with a 47t chain ring and it has to be black.
thanks.
You can't buy anything new thats an improvement for the money. Plus there are better things to upgrade on a bike. Hubs for a start.

absolutely, great guy. as for his new frames, just take a look on his blog. Mine was one of the first he put together and is powder coated with sticker decals but the new ones are reynolds, wet painted with painted on logos. lushhh.

When this lands it will be my current project. Its hot. I wouldn't normally fix up a road frame. But fuck it I love it.
Just got to source a 24" rim for the front. Other then that (and a lo-flange phil) I have all the bits and pieces. Probably kick it off with an Ergo stem before putting on the Titan. Not sure on bars yet. Risers or mavic pursuit/La84s???? Will also change the rear rim from white B43 I have waiting to a sexi as fuck Chrome F30 if I like it enough once built. Should be pimpin. :) Full Phil as per norm. And a NOS Zeus post I've been waiting to put on a bike for ages.
Very Excited Harry.
Painjob looks similiar to my moser...
Nice frame you got there ;)

£100 get you a decent Miche crankset, I think they're great value for money and are pretty reliable.

Blue and white "stripes" on the sides of the frame.

Its got a steel ring though :(
Cheap though :)Ed: Its hardly worth 100 quid to upgrade from Andel to Miche. If its even an upgrade at all :P

The more I visualise this built up, the more I agree with the love. It's a really nice frameset.

Fixed
If you're not a weight weenie, steel chain ring is a plus, and very old school Campag had steel rings too.
The one I illustrated has a CNC machined alloy ring, although it would be no surprise if Andel offered it with pressed steel too.

Work in progress, excuse the reflector and garish saddle!
Just got this frame in the post today - made my day.
Now starts the hunt for bargains to embellish it with........ :D

I know people are fed up and bored with this topic. But as a final* word from me;
I think I am now of the opinion that the 7600's are between ISO and JIS - apart from this being a fairly common opinion on the web (which is no real grounds for proof), when 7600's are fitted to a campag 111mm BB, you get a perfect chainline.
If 7600's are JIS, and are supposed to be paired with a 109.5 BB, then according to Sheldons theory of mixing tapers; using an ISO 114BB would give the perfect chainline (as using and ISO BB with JIS cranks, makes the cranks sit 4.5mm further down the spindle).
Hopefully that makes sense.
*Hopefully.
Not sure if it makes a difference but is the Campag 111mm BB asymmetrical? Also what hubs are you running?
The 7600/10 BB is 109mm. It's ISO. Others have used JIS taper BBs like the Shimano UNs (check the transmission database) but they use shorter spindle lengths as ISO cranks sit further out on JIS tapers. Using an ISO 114mm spindled BB would throw it way off. No?

That's for a 42.5mm chainline by the way.

they're excellent crank, pretty light too for the money., don't think I'll be going for the Campag Pista crank after using the Miche.

Don't you have both? and why is this?
-
• #20821
I do have both, the Campag is for the Holdsworth path racer, which is more fitting, but in term of money, I'd personally go for the Miche Advanced.
-
• #20822
I would go Truvativ Omnium (or I would when On-One were selling them for £89 including BB, can't be bothered to check if they still do!). Need a modern build for it though.

That's a nice chainring you got there. Nice and round.

I wouldn't buy either (if we are talking about the modern Campy Pista)
:P
...and slack chain, I know.
