Going brakeless against my will

So, this just happened.

Train station lock-up is at the top of a hill. Hopped on, rolled down, got to t-junction, couldn't stop.

Thieving little bastards.

What a ridiculous crime, could have killed someone for 99p of cheap, five-year-old, bottom-of-the-range brake blocks.

I would have thought most people instinctively engage the brakes when they swing their leg over to keep the bike from moving.
