• @KINGCUTTER: What do you mean by English thread bb? Do you mean standard Shimano or are you talking about old Raleigh 26tpi bb threads? My last couple of pugs both had standard Shimano bb threads, so that was nice and easy. It could well be a pug seeing as they made so many different style bikes and with loads of different materials. Just look at how many they made when they thought 103 carbolite would be a good idea! Did it come chrome as original or has it been done after market?

    Yes old style BB with lose ball and axel but i replaced with a Shimano came as chrome no paint.

    english=british=ISO most of the time.

    What the heck is going on here.

    Are we confusing Taper type with threading?

    • An english BB means the BB-shell is 68mm and it has a special thread (can't remember the guage) - as opposed to french / Italian (and crazy cats 73mm - but lets ignore that one).
    • Shimano refers to the taper on the BB axle, its lazy speak for JIS, which is again different from Campy, or ISO (and the rarer and equaly crazy cats Old school JIS).

    You don't get shimano threads, or ISO threads, or English tapers.
