Full story can be found on the [Daily Mails](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1242362/Woman-driver-killed-cyclist-mother-freed-fainting-wheel.html) website.

      Excerpt:
“A woman driver who ran down and killed a cyclist with her luxury Range Rover walked free from court today after claiming she may have fainted at the wheel of her car.
Tracy Johnson, 35, escaped prosecution after her 4×4 vehicle mowed down mother of three Sharon Corless, 43, as she was out riding her bike with her husband.
The runaway Range Rover also ploughed into Mrs Corless’ husband Peter at up to 51mph before smashing into another car and then hitting a lamp-post on a roundabout.
After the crash Mrs Corless – described by her family as ‘the perfect mum’ – lay dying in the road, Johnson emerged from her £60,000 vehicle in a ‘shocked and dazed condition’ asking ‘what’s happened?’”

  • As usual fuck up britain lets criminals away with murder it would seem...

  • hold on one fucking second...

Is the daily mail actually siding with cyclists in that article? Does misogyny trump cyclist hatred?

  • Absolute crap, people getting away with murder, its disgusting

  • Shouldn't she have her licence suspended on medical grounds if she can faint like that?

  • If she genuinely fainted without warning and no prior history of fainting then calling it murder is a bit harsh.

  • If she genuinely fainted without warning and no prior history of fainting then calling it murder is a bit harsh.

Yes, it would. IF she had genuinely fainted.

  • hold on one fucking second...

    luxury Range Rover

Only if it's an upper class woman.

  • Inquiries revealed Johnson, who lives in a £300,000 house in Fearnheard near Warrington, Cheshire, had been on her phone 'minutes' before the crash but not directly before the impact.

    C*nt.

And I agree with this statement:

I think if you read the caption under the photos Johnson was looking distraught before she went into court. This could have been due to the fact she was looking at 14 years imprisonment not that she was showing true remorse . I think she was thinking about her own predicament.

  • hold on one fucking second...

More like they're trumpeting her getting off with no punishment.

    What a ridiculous defence.

  • Yes, it would. IF she had genuinely fainted.

So you think she should be locked up for 14 years because she may not have fainted though there is no evidence either way. Can you catagorically say she is guilty of causing death by wreckless driving and lock her away for the next 14 years, based on an article in the Daily Mail?

This is a typicaly poorly written peice by the Mail, they pointed out she was in "her luxury Range Rover" and that "Johnson, who lives in a £300,000 house" which makes absolutely no difference to the case or sad story anyway.

  • sigh, clearly shouldnt be on the roads. What a farce that nothing happens when people give such absurd defences.

Absolute crap, people getting away with murder, its disgusting

didnt read the part about her doing it on purpose.

  • you can, of course, be using your mobile phone without it being registered by the mobile phone company....i.e composing or reading text messages.

  • bollox. She was probably reaching into her handbag to check some text or about to write a text or whatever. Fainted, my arse

  • WTf, how exactly did she prove she fainted,
and at that, shouldn't she be leaving with a man-slaughter charge.

  • So you think she should be locked up for 14 years because she may not have fainted though there is no evidence either way. Can you catagorically say she is guilty of causing death by wreckless driving and lock her away for the next 14 years, based on an article in the Daily Mail?

Edit - according to the article -This was judged on the 'balance of probabilities' based on the word of one 'expert', called by the defence team. The full case should have been heard, not dropped by the cps on such weak evidence.

  • Agreed. The apparent total lack of control is suggestive, but still big IFs and a very worrying precedent. Also sad that people can buy their own safety by increasing the risk to others with bigger, heavier vehicles.

  • Can you catagorically say she is guilty of causing death by wreckless driving and lock her away for the next 14 years, based on an article in the Daily Mail?

It's very unusual to kill someone through 'wreckless' driving.
    Reckless driving is another matter...

  • in all circumstances mpv's are a danger in the community. imo they should be used sparingly.

  • thoughts and prayers to the victims family.

  • Why does the Daily Mail always put a price on everything? £300,000 house! look he's rich! fuck sake.

  • i suspect the murderer will have difficulty with living (feelings of guilt etc).

in this way many lives are ruined by the oil and motor industry.

  • ‘We had been told by the police after the accident that they had examined the driver and there was no medical explanation for her erratic driving; so to be told this news so long afterwards it is difficult to understand.’

  • There's quite a lots of muddle in the article to make a statement.
