This is a bit of a specialist job, especially if it's a hollow-ground blade. I've sharpened many knives in my time but I wouldn't be confident sharpening a straight razor. Are you sure it needs honing and not just a go on a strop? If you don't have a strop you can do a similar job with a wad of old newspaper on a cushioned chair.
Definately needs to be sharpened properly. When I got it for Christmas I thought you use the leather strop to sharpen it, which er, blunted it because I used it quite incorrectly.
After some research, I know bits and bobs what I'll need.
I did buy a stone brick, but ordered the wrong one and it's too weak to hone this kind of blade. It's more for safety scissors or something. =) What a waste of monies.
