  • that was my first time at LFGSS drinks as luck would have it, from what i can remember. Some great laughs that night

a great night, I remember Paul sitting in the pub with a holdall full of carbon bits and pieces, he had a real glint in his eye that night.

  • Fiddy CBE
    RIP

  • There is going to be a lot to sort out in the next week.

We need to arrange the funeral - as yet nothing can be done as the cause of death certificate will not be released until Monday at 10 am and I then need to register the death.

From there a date for the funeral needs to be set and then a wake organised.

In the meantime we need to consolidate all of Paul's possessions and affairs.

Paul's financial situation is a little unclear, but it is not certain there will be funds to cover a funeral.

Once the serious matters above have been resolved we can organise a ride/pub crawl/crash/visit to A&E in honour of the old scrote.

Things/services we will probably need, this list will be amended as we progress.

    Legal advice re wills etc
    Some contributions towards costs

Event organisers/funeral directors - given the diversity of people here is there anyone who can give help with the organisational aspects/managing of finances
    Venue for funeral
    Venue for wake

Service Sheets/Printing is being covered by murtle and BDW
The C&H have offered the pub and free food for the wake - though I have concerns re capacity
Transport - van ideally to consolidate his bits and bobs - RPM

  • Can we please close off this thread?

It would be best if we can focus back on the main 50/14 thread, where I have just posted the following

  • @James - I can't offer much in terms of legal/organisational know-how but if you need a pair of hands for loading/unloading/shifting stuff then I'm more than happy to help out.

Depending on the great british weather and thus outside loitering room, the C&H could accomodate quite a large group of us I'd think, especially if the room upstairs is open too.

  • Rest in peace Paul. A great man that will be greatly missed.
    x

ps. My 2ps a funeral procession following the car would be a nice idea.

  • This thread has been moved into the public forum.

Those who have posted any personal details (contact info) should consider reviewing their posts and editing it as they see fit.

James... you might want to add an addendum of all of the latest info and a timeline of key events to the first post, since that is the one that everyone can always find easily.

  • That was a great night

    +1

  • Paul, a true gentleman, ever optimistic and positive with an enviable zest for life that made me feel ashamed for not even being half as active as he was considering i am a hell of a lot younger. An inspiriation without trying but just living life to the max and giving people the time of the day regardless of circumstances always ready to help and more importantly listen.

Sadly & regrettably Paul i wasnt there throughout your troubled times having taken time away and turning my back on my biking madess and i wont proffess to being a good friend, i wasnt, i merely spent a few days here and there with him, but it was enough to get to know him and enough that he will have my eternal respect.

    R.I.P Paul.

  • DJ - Steve also said that the C&H will lay on food even if the venue is different, so thats worth thinking about if capacity is a problem.

  • I just found out all this now, I'm sort of shocked, very sad news.
We met just twice and I have a really good memory of you Paul, I'm seriously sorry not having more chances to ride with you again.

Rest in Peace Paul. You won't be forgotten.

  • RIP. Paul

  • Had someone called Erika on Facebook contacting me to ask what happened to Paul as she spoke to him 6 days ago and wanted to know when the funeral was taking place. I linked her to this thread.

It may be worth creating a private or something like that group on FB for people who arent linked with LFGSS but are friends with dear Paul on there?

  • To anyone with bright ideas, please dont suggest them to me. Just get on and do it.

If you wish to check something is appropriate contact me, object, pigfarmer etc, otherwise if you think it will help and wont get in the way just do it.

  • RIP Paul. You were the first forum member to come and chat to me. And made me feel very welcome. Hope the second stage of your tour has no up-hills. X

  • Paul was a special bloke, always greeted you with a smile. Really sad that a someone like Fiddy is taken early.

RIP Paul, you were an inspiration to many.

  • Mind if I join you?

Sorry dude, I only just saw this!

  • Very sad news. RIP Paul.

  • RIP Paul

A really nice guy who'll will be missed

  • I briefly met paul on the IOW randomee event last year so I was shocked to hear of this news. For a complte noob he seemed to sum up the spirit of this forum which I have found regularly with the members I have a met, a sweetness and generosity of spirit.

    RIP

  • These are awfully sad news, Paul we will all miss you so much, rest in peace. Deirdre and Loic

  • :(

    In tears reading this.

  • I am truly speechless, Met him a few times but every time he was smiling and welcoming, I will remember his cheeky smile.

    Ride in Peace

  • This is such woeful news. I feel very sad now, but would like to echo the sentiments above. He was a charming man and full of cheer of a life well lived. He will be sorely missed.

    RIP

  • Being from Glasgow, I've never met Paul but I sold him a pair of silver Sidis which I hear he enjoyed quite a bit.

    RIP
