  • F*ck me, you must do one hell of a paper round to be able to pay off 3000 quid -ever

I work in a bike shop, 40 quid a day, so yeah it will take a long time, but quicker than a paper round :) Now down to 1800 thanks to my dads crimbo bonus / my christmas present!

    Peace out!

  • want to get into the whole fixed-gear thing

Why not try just a bit of the fixed-gear thing first? :)

And do make sure to use the search function, as most of your questions are sure to have been addressed somewhere.

    Welcome!

  • Hey all, I love up north in York and work in one of the bike shops there. Currently on my 2nd fixed gear now- a heavily changed Marin Dominican and I love it :)

  • welcome.

  • I'm Steve, I'm 15...

...I have £3000 of debt from buying carbon bling to pay off before I can spend money on a fixed.

    what. the. fuck.

do bank give loan to teenagers nowadays?

  • hello need to get out of the nursery...so a quick hello i guess

  • did you read the whole nursery rules?

  • indeed and blatantly i still should be in the nursery for posting about needing to get out of it ! ah well fallen at the first hurdle.

  • what. the. fuck.

    Yeh i agree.

How on earth did you get credit at your age?

and aside from this, 3k in debt at 15? thats not a good start.

I haven't got credit - I have parents and a very understanding boss in a bike shop. And ok, I've explained that wrong, I got 1200 for christmas which has paid of the road bike. But the TT bike will cost 1800, but I haven't bought anything for that yet, so technically I'm not in debt. But I just say I have 3000 in debt, just to know how much I'm spending, and I like to brag :)

    Peace Out

  • You are Veruca Salt and I claim my £5's.

  • Hmm, my Christmas present limit was around 100 quid when I was 15. Well, I guess all that bailout-money-cum-banker's-bonus gotta go somewhere.

  • quick ques -- Does anyone feel it's lame to see someone on a fg or ss with a BMX/stunt style helmet upon their noggin? My humungaloid head doesn't feel right in a proper one.

    whacha think?

Shit.. there goes the chance of more brownies..

  • Hello,

Great forum, very useful for getting tips and that and you guys help me build my fixed Carlton, which cost rather more like £300 then £3g. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something to this community myself someday.

    Thanks.

  • I suppose I have to admit to having been a lurker and it's time for me to come out at last - "my name is Dewi and I need my regular fix".
58-year old fixie commuter, but nowhere near London. 6 of my 8-mile daily commute are offroad on a tarmac Sustrans route onb a disused railway bed which some of you may know about - Lôn Eifion, which runs from Bryncir to Caernarfon.
My house is 8 miles east of Snowdon as the crow flies.
In the shed are, and the list goes from least to most often ridden:-
1 Steel Graham Weigh audax bike Triple Veloce
1 Raleigh fixed conversion 531ST tourer (Raleigh Classic??) Can't actually remember, I stripped and repainted it years ago so no decals. 75 GI
1 Raeigh 501 track/road bike drilled for front brake. 72
1 Charge Plug to get me into the Hipster generation - I know it's overpriced but at the time with the Ride to Work discount, I decided to go for it - it's great. 69

I've got a pair of VANS but ride in Shimano SPDs and can't do skids, so make of me what you will.
If I've made any spelling mistakes, I have the excuse that English is my 2nd language!!

  • Being in the nursery means that I can't edit, and it doesn't make a lot of odds to most of you, but "east of Snowdon" should read "west of Snowdon", just in case some pedant decides to check my coordinates.

Oh, you could have been skidded all over for this mistake. :)

    Welcome!

  • I should introduce myself................
Joined a while back and then got distracted.

I'm an ex-pro who drinks too much, writes too little and the only exercise I get is in the bedroom.

I've got too many bikes, Bianchi FG-Lite (Campag Record), Merckx road bike (Campag Record), Dacorrdi (1990, campag record but in fixed), 4 Merckx Track bikes (all with Campag Record Pista), Ibis Mojo HD (Prototype arriving in a week), Kona Coilair Supreme, Spesh Epic Expert, Giant OCR (Campag Chorus), Spesh Transition and a couple of BH bikes.

  • ^ Someone be hatin' on Shimano...

    And welcome. :)

It's odd because everyone knows Shimano are so much better. [/bait]
