  • Currious - whats the frame?

  • those bars don't look very comfortable! is that a sturmey shifter on the bar? i want to go play in the snow!

OOPS.. sorry this was me (tom) not sam! i was on his computer and forgot he was logged in as him - sorry

  • ^
That bike looks like a hoot!

  • thomsons are very very stiff and not comfortable to sit on in the slightest for me + the carbon one is lighter and cheaper and very comfortable...

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought that the seatpost would make much difference in comfort.

    Was your the layback?

  • hell yes ed, otherwise they wouldn't make em out of other materials - i usually run a lot of post as i have gangly legs so a ti post gives a really squishy ride - when i only have the classic fistful of post on bikes like the singular, the carbon is noticeably comfier
i have a silly ti mtb at home with Ti handlebars, i love how wide they are and pretty much everything on that one is titanium so have stuck with them but my previous carbon bars were infinitely lighter and comfier

don't want to teach you how to suck eggs but the basics are that the carbon weave abzorbs some of the vibrations rather than transferring them to your hands or ass - or at least that's how i've come to understand it.
Hense why lots of sportif bikes and mountainbikes have carbon seatstays for comfort

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong!

  • let it snow let it snow let it snow

    *deep, envious sigh"

  • oo and no, not the layback, but i've had one of those too and remember it being stiff too

  • *deep, envious sigh"

i ideally need to sell it in the new year, am building a bike for l'eroica and don't has space to keep both bikes - should i sell it as a frameset? parts? full bike?

  • Dunno. I do fancy a bit of l'eroica though.

  • come! we're booked up for next year

    :)

Full bike, because it's one of the nicest build we've seen on here. I hope it's too big and therefore I won't be doing anything silly with money i haven't got.

  • you fancy anything in a bit of l'eroica

  • thomsons are very very stiff and not comfortable to sit on in the slightest for me + the carbon one is lighter and cheaper and very comfortable...

Got it. Just confused me with the word practical, wondered what you were using it for!
I am still not sure about the weight though as I would think the Thomson was lighter than the carbon/zertz thing.

  • Finished this the other day...

That is gorgeous. What wheels are those?

  • Velocity deep V,
    Im Thinking Formula hubs.
    Anyone wanna correct me?

  • na

    it's a 59cm square

Making any plan for l'eroica? I'm still a way off on my holdworths, plently of time luckily enough.

  • Yep, the hipsters' choice

  • i havn't even got a frame yet! i just have the saddle, tyres, and handlebar tape

Do you have to have an actual vintage bicycle? If so I'm out :(

  • fuck dan, the cinelli looks nice. white tyres stay clean in the snow innit!

maybe a slightly more aggressive angle on the bullhorns to give the bike that "mean" lopro look, but wont necessarily be comfy.

Fucking awesome build. The attention to detail is stuuupid!
Hubs and cranks match in grey to the frame is just something to be pretty excited about. Im sure she rides lovely too.

thanks, eddie...she does. superlite...superquick. drivetrain is incredible. bull horns may look odd from that angle but are in-line with the top tube, so mildly agro already. loving the snow beater!

  • Xmas cat haz fing wif Mashed framez.
I just can´t, happy that you´re happy... but I can´t like that frame.
If its your thing, then fine... ; )
    xmas joy!

understand dude, but seeing (and riding) is believing...maybe eddie will tesify to that

am afraid so... pre '86 - so no internal routing, no spds!

  • tilover
I'm intrigued by the double lever - single brake setup.

Does that little (well, quite large) gadget just hang about on the cabling, or do you attach it to the frame somehow? Got any detailed pictures of it?

    Cheers
