Personally I'd be more inclined to get a bike that can take gear such as teh surly or on one rather than a single speed only bike. That way you are covered for the future if you live somewhere else, go on a trip e.t.c
That kona can be run geared.
Derailleur mount rear dropouts are availible and the frame has cable guides for both front and rear mechs should you wish to run gears.
thanks, yup, i try and get as involved as i can! we're all looking forward to the euro champs next april

100% positive constructive thread. Win.
We've done some touchy subjects too:
29" vs 26"
sus vs rigid
best SS chain tension solution
cable vs hydrolicsGroup Hugs all round!

That's why I thought the Karate Monkey would be my best choice for the price.
Seems to have the most available holes for whatever you wish to attach. (Didn't sound so rude in my head). -

Ha.
Was just editing that in. Have a few things on the go next year, but would love to throw the bike around with fellow singlespeeders (must try harder). Not a jonny foriegner, though I coud pretend (scandinavias shortest man LOL). Will add it to the 2010 wish list. -

yeah, it definitely counts!
my good friend jase 'won' the swedish singlespeeds last year, his brother in law lives out there and will be entering ssec10 as a swedish contender despite being of west country decent:D

You've gone and been all sensible and posted a supurb looking complete bike costing less than if I built one. I can't just buy it. She'd notice. I might get away with sneaky part purchases. At that price it doesn't seem worth building one. Thanks a lot.

Good value for money.Just recommended that one as a OTP on the OTP thread a few days ago. The new one is nice black and red (but more expensive). Solid spec for the money.
despite being of west country decent
:DI think being from the westcountry counts as foreign anyway.

Sorry.
Just use it and get it really dirty before your other half sees it. Mrs.w has no idea.
Some bikes have big tyres and are muddy, some don't.

I've got a pair of those exotic forks (26er version).
They're beautifully made, solid as hell with no unwanted flex.Currently being run on a steamroller with CX tyres but I used them for offroading on my part time jump bike. Buy fit forget. Beautiful.
I have a set also and can confirm that they are fantastic.

I have 2 bikes, both black. One is always muddy and the other isn't. She'd notice a blue one. As luck would have it, she can't open the garage door as she's so small. Your plan might just work. If she ever mentions going in there, I'll just blind her and job done.

Garden shed/ workroom FTW.
I has these forks. Much the same as the exotic, but with annoying yellow decals.

http://twentynineinches.com/images/Interbike%202007/woundfork2.jpgThey're far less chunky then the typical eXotic/On-One/Superstar etc.
I wanted a set of Wound-up cyclo cross forks, for the cycloX/commuter, but found some oldversions of the bonty cycloX fork going cheap.

come along if you want to know more about 29ers..... if you have any other questions it can be worth giving sam @ singular a call as he really know all there is to know
Thanks for the info & sites. You may see me at the next event, I'll be the one trying to stuff a Singular down the front of my trousers... they are very lush indeed
BTW. eXoctic do some budget carbon forks, which come up on Ebay alot.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/eXotic-29er-Ri...item20ae9af154Looks like I may have to sneak a set of these lovelies past the girlfriend judging by the feedback here... as don't have a garage to hide a frame in.

o.k who knows the thread with the single speed champs that are on next spring?
have utfs but cant find it and want to get some dates in the diary for events,
maybe some of you will be up for it? -

Hi
I'm in the same situation as the OP...Although after a day of phoning around and t'net trawling I ordered an atomic blue Niner one 9 with their specific carbon forks.. Initially wanted a on one scandal but none in stock :( so upped the game by trippling the budget.
Looks the dogs even if it is just sat in the garage minus lots of kit.
I'll be watching this thread as need lots of bits.
Oh and hi to everyone, it's my maiden post.......(it'll all come clear after 3 posts!)
Would post up a pic of the niner but not sure how, sorry.

Asked this in another thread but may as well try this one too, any of you guys know of anyone who will retrofit an EBB around London? And a rough idea of cost?

.If you look at the massive SS frames list, you'll see I did a fair amount of research before buying the last frame.
The Jabbawocky was always on the top from day one. (But when the chance to get a lightly use handmade Longboard I had to go for it). A steel frame with no bells or whistles, just a great ride (and a cool headbadge). Also one of the best geometies for the small size.
