Excellent. Cycling in this morning was great, there were about 5 bikes on the same route as me, normally it's more like 100 or something. Must have put a lot of people off.

A decent amount of snow in Highgate. There was none at the bottom of the hill though. Bit rubbish really.

someone rides in basingstoke!?
my thoughts exactly!
I've only ever seen 2 other non geared bikes: a langster parked outside M&S and someone bombing past the train station / anvil roundabout on some white singlespeed (might have been fixed, this was about half a year ago so my memory's a bit fuzzy).i'm bringing my bike back for christmas. maybe see you about.
I take it you're a student too? I managed to get mine home in pieces on the roof of my friend's car.

Do any drivers in this country put on special winter tyres or are they having so many problems because they're on summer tyres when it suddenly snows? Surely in the more snow-prone areas winter tyres must be the norm?

Nope. This is england. We would much rather risk an accident and be able to moan about it after than doing something as sencible as that.

i'll be out in town on x-mas eve, and probably days after that too. what's it like riding in basingstoke? i did it once but only from the station out to tadley!

Wimped out and took the train after slipping up walking the dog. Roads now clear. Anti-climactic indeed.
