  • The fear of chain snap used to worry me.

    I have a really rubbish £2 chain from ASDA combined with 2-3 different links to get the right length as the chain stretched over time. Theres even a half link in there.

    I cleaned & oiled it for the first time in about 5 months recently too.

    I cannot see how it would be possible to snap a good quality 1/2 inch chain. Even a rubbish chain like mine is being put through much less stresses than a 3/32 chain on a multi-speed drivetrain where its getting pushed on & off rings and almost always being run diagonally.

    A single speed drivetrain with a quality chain is so bloody efficient & optimal, I just dont get how you did it.

    Look at DWS, he runs a 3/32 chain with a diagonal chainline, big fella but as he says chain doesnt snap.

    Mustve been scary when it happened, you had to walk to destination in cleats aswell right?
