  • So any pie appreciators at puding lane last night?

  • Betty's mince pies FTW

  • Greggs 'Viennese' Mince Pie - 39p

Pastry - deep shortcrust in a 'Viennese' style - I have no idea what this entails, other than a concentric spiral pattern on top, and some icing sugar

Filling - Mincemeat with a brandy styling

Overall - Pastry had a sort of doughy uncooked consistency, but filling kicked in with a lively spicy kick. 6/10

  • are you taking the p..s ^^ greggs, pffffffffft

  • One has to try these things

  • I confess that I want to try a McDonalds 'Festive Pie'.

do it, fastbroadband in there! btw that vid you posted dosent, er, have anything on it- or is that the point?

  • One has to try these things

yes, one does, can be so tiring just having Duchy Originals every day cant it?

  • I find that the occasional mingle with the Proletariat does wonders for my sense of self worth

  • Greggs' mince pies are good, don't knock them. Especially those Viennese ones. Taste-tastic.

  • Sainsbury's taste the difference Mince Pies - fucking good for packaged mince pies 8/10Tescos Finest, average at best 6/10 if im generousi love mince pie season, otherwise known as christmas

  • Tesco's deep filled mince pies: Tasteless, dry, stodgy with no filling. Difficult to digest but come up a treat. WARNING: Do not consume more than two at any one time on the street whilst being abused by forumengers

  • Co Op deep filled mince pies - 6/10, nothing special, but nothing bad either.

  • I have to recommend these:

They really are great. The pastry is really great, not too short nor too sweet. Overrall they remind me of fig rolls a little, which is fantastic as far as I'm concerned. They have a chewiness to them.

    8.5/10

It sounds as if you're not mincing words.

  • Peckhams the Victuallers today (after slumming it with the Proles at Greggs yesterday)

Christmas Mince Pie - £1.19 each

Appearance - Solid looking, traditional flat topped, with sugar

Filling - Over 3/4 full - nice mix of mincemeat and candied peel, not overly sweet, very alcoholic!

Overall - I enjoyed this pie immensely!

It's good: Good solid little pie, nice filling and pastry very light
However: Price may be a consideration for some

    8/10

looks like ill be a right fat bugger by end of the week, ive had 7 already hahaha

  • Tesco's Finest are the best ones, for me, this year - really boozy, lovely buttery pastry.

After a similar conversation to this thread (only just spotted it), I discovered that my colleague believed that mince pies still contain beef. Very surreal conversation 'Look, the ingredients say they contain mincemeat...'

  • Tekno fuel!

  • Is that a recommended ingredient or suggestion of what mince pies should be used for (or some sort of 'in' joke)?!

  • :D

    dont be cagey.

  • I am defs going to get a couple in this arvo (to line the belly before our work xmas do). Perfect.
