That was quick, I reported them when I saw them. Sometimes I think reporting them is a bad thing though - as there is less chance for the owner to track the bike down, and they'll just sell it elsewhere.
The phone number was 07908470371 btw google it and you'll see what I mean. -
• #3080
Yeah I have a feeling some of them are clever enough to Google certain things which will just point to where the links have been posted here, so they know to remove and relist. This is only a guess.
That's the worst part, thinking hmm now the listing has been removed, the owner is one step further away from being reunited with their bicycle... :-(
After Googling the phone number I can see that this person has posted in the Ipswich and Essex Gumtrees and that it already leads back to a thread on here from a year ago!
Dodgy shit.

Shit! I just saw the ad back up, and reported it - did you see the red one with the drops being sold?
wish I knew who's it was -
• #3085
I didnt see it get sold for definite, saw some guy interested. looked like it had a dent in the top tube…
Id imagine the theif would have been riding it around for a bit as it had a back brake on it (seen the little c*nts do this a lot). Also looked like a rattle can job on it… -

GA2G,
It was the red one. I know I shouldn't have left it there but I couldn't bear to have it sat at home while I rode to work on an old banger. BIkes are to be used after all!
I had an Abus Diskus chainlock on it and it was securely locked through frame and rear wheel. I know it's not the most expensive one out there but surely it should withstand a good deal of attack? No evidence of lock left behind so presume it was taken with bike.
I am insured, but would rather have my bike back - not going to find another s-works langster in a hurry.

A really dodgy guy was looking to steal bikes on/off Oxford Circus yesterday. High-vis jacket for that slight cyclist look, black rucksack full of tools, ginger beard, beady eyes that had seen better days.
Had to stand by friends and my bike whilst they nipped into some shops. He was persistent and pretty irritated that I was there. Kept leaving and coming back, he pretended to be on the phone, kept coming up and looking at a phonebox before leaving again... wasn't a very good actor.

Warning to those with communal bike sheds.
There was a theft last night from our communal bike shed in Greenwich. They took someones bike, I don't have all the details of the bike, but the method they used was to unbolt the sheffield stand from the floor.
I know they should be concreted into the floor but it never occured to me that they could be unbolted, I spent so much time picking locks and learning how to use them I can't believe I was so stupid to over look this. They managed to get a couple of bolts out of another rack where my girlfriends Thorn was kept but lucky for us they rounded one of them in the process. The other guy was just unlucky.
I need to speak to my insurance company but I think these stands invalidate our insurance so worth checking if your in a similar situation, we current now have four bikes in the flat. Hopefully putting concrete around the base will mean the bolts cannot be reached and will therefore meet insurance standards. I'll update if I find out.
Safe riding all.
p.s. sorry if everyone knows this already.. it seems so obvious yet I never even thought about.

Farmer Temp, I'd have felt less bad if it was the black one. That didn't look special, whereas the red was a beaut. Do me a favour,
and find the Locks That Work thread. Read it, and make some choices. It doesn't have to be expensive, but it will surely help you. -

Same thing happened at my communal racks once, luckily my bike was still there. Select which rack you want to use and then bash the end of the rawl bolt to with a big hammer to mushroom out the threaded bit. No chance of them getting the nuts off then.

My mate had his bike stolen tonight from outside RICHMIX on bethnal green road.
Bike details:
52-53cm black viking road frame converted to fixed gear. Some OBEY and other stickers on it.
Black Tange forks.
Fuji track wheelset.
Red schwable blizzard tyres.
black oury grips.
mks cages and straps.See pic.
Double locked to a bike rack right outside RICHMIX cinema complex.
Stolen between 7-9pm.
CCTV is just obscured by the railing at the front unfortunatley.I know its a notorious bike theft spot, but still its messed up that they do it in full public view.
If you see anything that matched the description please PM me.
Will be down at Bricklane on Sunday and watching gumtree.

it's outside the cinema, it gave the theft enough information that you're probably watching a film, very popular spot for theft.
still bad luck, I hope you'll find it at Brick Lane, don't forget to bring your serial number and photographic evidence of the bike.

I know its a bad spot, but there are always people outside... and the cops were all over brick lane last night.
Anyways if anyone sees anything let me know.

Looks a bit suspish'...

very very likely it's stolen, you have to watch out for the 'ride smooth' 'good brake' 'hand me down' part as well as the mobile phone number and cash only.
anyhow, reported.

looks very stolen - phone number search provides loads of results including another sale in ipswich on a different name, and is the same seller who was selling that nicked Monoc a while back
