I can't find the article, but for some reason I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the carbon factory is in Europe, which I thought was odd. Not that it makes much difference, but andyp's point still remains...
edit - found it, the Merckx/Pinarello 'carbon manufacture facility' is in Italy.
