Because when Spielberg & Lucas get together the result couldve only been aliens. Aside from that weirdness, there was less humour in it than original films. Dr Jones being a bumbling fool is what made the character lovable. Now that he is really old they shouldve done loads of old man jokes, but they didnt.
Plus the whole film appeared to be shot in a green screen studio with minimal cast.
