Thanks, its the biggest they do! 25.5".

I had it left over from another bike I built and thought I would but it on for a bit of proection when removing the rear wheel etc.

  • One for mrs.w £57 including postage.

Clean, polish service and that will be that.

  • I ride a 54 and I am 5'10". Fits perfectly with an 11cm stem. I think the frames just look small because of large down tube and integral headset making head tube look small. If I could change anything it would be to add a degree or two to the seat tube angle.

Yeah I suppose that's right, I never thought about an extra degree or two on the seat tube... I've got a 90mm stem (insert bad joke) and can't complain about the fit either. I love my Nelson and am damn happy with the ride!

Never gunna happen. First you'll re-wrap the drops, then hell, some crosstop levers would be nicer than these old things. Then she isn't comfy so you get a new saddle, and some new clips/straps/pedals while you're at it. Next thing you know you're building a new wheel set for a single speed and looking for NOS moustache bars.

This is just the way of things.

  • True.

nice, i did the same, slightly cheaper at £35 for the missus, and all i did to get it 100% was re-grease the hubs, re-tension the wheels and true them and then clean and remove the broken mudguards and finally, change the drops to what you see now.... other than that the bike was 100% original with even the Raleigh tyres still on !
just been sitting in a garage i expect all it's life since the late 70's.

oh and it has the original derailleur too, which is some kinda weird sprung tensioned thingy that i expect made it easier to shift.

Their Vittoria Rubino's. Perform pretty well and cheap.

  • It's an early 80s Raleigh Misty frame, salvaged from a heap of abandoned bike junk at work, stripped of decals, gears, rack and mudguards, and given a thorough clean and regrease. It's nothing particularly special, but I like the mixte design and the shape of the chainguard. The white bits are new; the wheels and all other parts were sourced from other dead bikes.

Aaah - that's what mine started life as, but in not quite as nice condition. I had to give it a set of wheels, then replaced the centre-pulls because they didn't work with 700c's, switched the crankset because the original was badly warped, and took the stickers off.

It's a Shimano Positron gear system. A precursor of indexed shifting, I think.

  • Hey, this is a running bike but a project that's ongoing and has been for a while but nearly there, have a king grip nut in sotto voce black, some fluted campy pista cranks and some crank bros flats with yellow gurneys to go on still.
Will be getting a powder coat with either black & multicolour holographic metalflake or yellow with black metal-flake, can't decide... maybe something else, I've always been partial to kawasaki green and deep orange colours too but only if everything else is black, There's a tiny ding in the top-tube I'm going to try and get rolled out or I'll fill it with silver solder and flush it.
At some point I'll get the stem polished and anodised black if I can't find a swap and do the same with the campy pista cranks. Don't think I can do anything to make the post black as it's an alien ti so maybe I'ss ell it and get a black thomson....
It's a Peugeot track frame with cannondale track forks as the originals took a ding, Bontrager Race-X-Lite track wheelset with the rims taken off and powdercoated glass black.

  • hip-hop.
Nice frame, those forks are nice too.

why don't you paint it a lovely pearlescent white, would look nice with those forks.

  • Should be brazing this up at some point soon...

It's gonna be my touring bike.

Gonna be fillet brazed and am considering going the rolhoff route.

  • i think it's a crying shame you covered up the original Peugot paintwork. To me that was a mistake... but life goes on

Hey I really need those forks. Would you sell trade etc??

I'm not a huge fan of white though it would probably look pretty sweet. It's raining most of the year here too so it would be filthy all the time.

I know, it wasn't me, the frame and fork had been sprayed matte black prior to my purchasing it. I would have loved it to have the original paintwork but no joy. The paint used looks ok, and it's not a rattlecan job but it chips hella easily. I'd like to stove enamel it but I know it will get chipped to hell so I'm going to have to go with a powdercoat for the sake of practicality. Will be getting the sign shop I used to work at to make up some fetching peugeot decals though.

  • Hey I really need those forks. Would you sell trade etc??

Not unless you had something special to replace them with... sorry, I'm pretty fond of them. When I get the original forks checked and re-set I'll probably just keep these on anyway.

I have Cannondale Track but I don't have the original forks I've been searching for some replacement for a longtime - call it years. I don't have any steel forks to trade only carbon.. But i do have other items you might be interested in. eg carbon wheels, forks etc

  • Not sure man, send me a PM of the bits you are thinking of trading and I'll see if any of them would be of interest.

  • @ Velonoir, I like it alot.

    Cannondale Track forks are lust..

  • Pm'd

  • Carlton project is ON.
(this has to be one of the most beautiful track frames I´ve seen/own)*

    *proud owner

  • I'll give you a score for it.

  • i just picked up my new Pinarello frame this morning.

It's gonna be my track bike for next season..... so that'l give me a while to get it built up!

Obviously not going to have theses wheels on, i just put them on so i could check the frame size quickly... i think i might start saving for some Mavic Elipse wheels, as i've heaard good things about them, and they are black... which is nice.

i need to polish the stem & seatpost at somepoint too.

gonna wrap it up and put it in hibernation in the cellar till next season now!
