  • was a good beers. hope chris and before all raf made it home ok and in time before the shit rainstorm. respect for tackling the distance with the pashley.

the pie was awesome, so i say thanx once more to festus for dipping our noses right into that deli custard. as for the 'eat not here' thing, i understand them and though it was a bit cheeky of us to unpack and munch in front of the door, right under the cam ;) the benches 4yards away make all the diff.

so all in all great eve, thanks james for the repellent, nice to meet new faces, too and ffs the wind came down hard on me way home.

  • Yeah that wind was a bitch, I missed the worst of the rain thank buddha!

  • Did anyone have to wait an hour for a chicken burger?

  • Nope, came more quickly than I had anticipated- the barman came and found me outside with my food.

  • Would anyone have been surprised if they were sat drinking from a can on one of the benches and were asked to move?

    It's a pub- a business.

If the staff let people bring their own food or drink and consume it on the premises then they are shafting their business.

I used to run pubs and in any of the ones I used to run I'd have told anyone who sat down and started eating food they had not bought from the pub to bugger off.

Putting it plainly to bring your own food or booze shows a total lack of respect.

    This

It's like taking a KFC into McDonalds and sitting down and eating it

  • Good times last night. It was nice to wait out the rain before heading home but that wind was a bitch.

    Cigars have been ordered. ;^)

  • McDonalds are there to be used and abused for their services as much as possible.

But they never let you use the bogs when you're dyin for a piss

    Its nothing like this.

He made us move 4 feet, into the rain, for 3 minutes.

It was a pile of shit. Its not like we ordered fucking Dominos.

More importantly, who gives a fuck.

  • But they never let you use the bogs when you're dyin for a piss

You have clearly made the mistake of asking, I find just walking in mid-piss is the best approach.

  • Principal of the thing innit Balki?

Thin end of the wedge this crumble eating- if they'd let you get away with it you'd be asking them for a knife and fork to eat your domino's with next time.

But in Brixton, they're always locked, same in KFC

Probably cos all the smack'eads used to go in there to shoot-up

Actually, I sympathise. You could've just told him to fuck off as you were starvin and you didn't wanna have to wait an hour if you were to order food from them

I hear what you're saying mate. I just wish we got some love.

    That was a fucking farce.

  • good evening yesterday. nice to meet see some people i haven't seen in a while and put some names to faces.

and the pie was excellent. cheers, reeen.

  • Good to see you too mate, don't be a stranger!

  • It was nice to see yous lot again last night. I was surprised how many people turned up despite the wind and rain (even some newbies). Sorry I was late, but I had to walk half the way :-)
Also I've finally put a face to the nickname (Plurabelle - very briefly, Gizmond and WiganWill - how come we were not introduced so far? Sorry for the "you know which one" gag, they wound me up, bastards! How's your cycling instructor's job goes?).

Dale - I'm glad you have placed the order and haven't spent the money :-)
    Neil - My offer stands

And now I'm going to cure my headache.

  • did u got home ok with your BB shizzles?

  • Yep, it's ok now (thanks to the Druid Cycles). Only the way to the pub was bit sketchy :-)

  • Principal of the thing innit Balki?

It's just about common sense really; we'd been there spending money all night just like every Tuesday, no one was using the benches outside, it was only pie, not a whole meal. If they want us there regularly they have a funny way of showing it; a jobsworth attitude isn't going to encourage us to keep it as the SE pub. In summer, when people are outside then it's reasonable; in winter when it makes no difference to anyone it's not.

  • Thursday is a holiday, so I have plans.

hot date was....well, interesting. Let's just say that Selim might be the most understanding and fantastic boyfriend ever, and I might be an idiot.

^^ this statement needs photographic support or diagrams of some kind.

    sorry if i missed something.

  • Yep, it's ok now (thanks to the Druid's Brew). Only the way from the pub was bit sketchy :-)

    fixed ;)

  • Don't know why you guys don't just take a gazeebo and set up (apple pie) camp on some of those nice new benches my parking fines have paid for.

I suspect all of this, the admonitions to move our fat pie-eating faces into the rain, the general lack of love, and the lack of love for Balki in particular, I suspect it's all down to the fact that the landlord, the actual landlord, is never there to see what fresh financial joy we pour into his fucking tills with our presence. Maybe we could take polaroids of us handing over money, of hands wearing cycling gloves handing over twenty pound notes damp with sweat, and pin them up over the bar?

Sorry to have missed you, Will; and Plurabelle; and Hovis. Sorry to James for arriving as you were leaving, again; sorry to Lynx for not having much time to chat. To everyone else, Kris, Balki, Loic, Squire, Pickle, Reen, all of you, it was a regular pleasure, as always, though all too brief.
