  • Hey Ed,

Thanks so much for the good reviews, appreciate it!
    Cheers,
    Scherrit.

  • Hey Ed,

    ...Scherrit.

You should know it is all about the bike!

If it is good enough for the Balki, it is more than good enough for me, booked. Had a lovely chat on the "telephone" with Scherrit, an appointment is booked for a fortnight...

As no one else has posted, I thought I would edit my last post:

Scherrit knows his track and race bikes very well. I spent about 2-3 hours with him and he adjusted my cleats, saddle and looked at my foot, knee and wrist positions. My handlebars did not require any adjustment and he gave me a couple of very good tips which have made riding a little bit easier for me. I would say I was 80% there on my own but 20% he gave me was worth it.

Much as Hippy^ mentioned, if you ride a fair bit, you will have made a number of adjustments over time. What visiting Scherrit does is find the best position for you and he looks at your knees, calf muscles, hips, and wrists to see they are in the right place while you pedal

    I recommend this -
    1) if you cycle >6/7 hours /week
2)You are thinking of spending any serious money to upgrade a bike (cost was £85)
    3) you want to know have some exact dimensions for your new shiny bike also if
4)the best time to have a fitting is during an evening.

I would not recommend it if you
    1) live too far from Ealing
    2) you only ride short distances across town and
3)you experience no "niggling" problems when riding - you just don't need it.

It was worth it just to see Scherrit remove my SPDs.

  • My appointment is booked! Next Wednesday, looking forward to learning.

  • "Looking forward" is the first step.. well done.
    Next, we shall work on..

  • Had a great time with the Bike Whisperer gang. Their after service care is just super lovely too. Definitely worthwhile for all the reasons arvey mentions. Lastly, Scherrit describes Hippy as a a "really sweet" guy. Is that a first?

  • he is a liar, clearly

have you met that fat cunt?

  • Either that, I think their so called "great coffee" has hallucinogenic properties that even Carlos Castaneda would be proud of.

I haven't met the "fat cunt". I was advised he was one of the gods of the forum, so I duly sent him an obligatory sycophantic PM as all noobs are advised to.

You're the only fat cunt I have the misfortune of knowing.

  • Lastly, Scherrit describes Hippy as a a "really sweet" guy. Is that a first?

I'm sure he must have said 'a really street guy'. You probably misheard that. ;P

  • Maybe it was "really sleazy guy"? Aren't all midget fisters?

  • Just wanted to add a twopenneth here.
Was 'whispered' yesterday afternoon and found the whole experience super usefull.
I'm trying to work out my best options for a new road bike and also get the most out of my riding I currently do (on fixed and mtb) and the guys were more then helpfull.

I'd say its well worth the dollar, if you have it, for the savings and piece of mind it will bring in the future.

  • going to have my bike whispered at. I have 60's or 70's Raleigh frame from that has busted (the top tube is coming out of the lugs. So, i got a '74 Colnago Super frame and doing a straight swap of parts (except the bb which will be italian threaded). Over time, I'll change parts to suit the new frame and add pista drops etc.
The bike whisperer guys seem great and i'm looking forward to having a perfect bike one day. Will post updates etc interested.

  • I've just done a post on my experience at the Bike Whisperer, if anyone's interested? Can thoroughly recommend it, if you can't be bothered to read that much.

  • was talking w scherrit last night

he can help people sort out custom fitted ti frames, he has the experience with frame geometry to deal with xacd and spec a frame to fit

possibly the cheapest way to get a custom fitted ti frame around

  • I was thinking of going down that path to replace the Rubble but I'm lacking time and money right now so I think I'll end up getting a Kinesis winter frame and swapping the parts over, hopefully in time for P-R.

Had a fitting on the TT machine and made some small adjustments - increase in saddle height, saddle further forward, moved feet in slightly (and new cleats).
Will go back in March and try higher saddle position again as well as make adjustments from actual racing.

  • Do they mind if you bring more than one bike with you? I'd like to get my road bike and fixed gear fitted to

  • I think generally scherrit charges for time spent rather than per fitting

    pm or call him

  • Off to see him Tuesday evening. He was great on the phone, put my mind at rest about the cause of my torn cartilage which was more than the doctor did after an examination.

    Looking forward to it indeed.

  • Post some feedback as I am thinking off seeing Sheritt

  • I was in there today.. he was fitting a fully-faired recumbent!

    Where's the pics Scherrit?

Here's the one I was telling you about..

we'd smashed the window out during the night as it was fogging up

$5000 of carbon fairing, value now?

  • Post some feedback as I am thinking off seeing Sheritt

What sort of feedback do you need?

  • hmmm, when i have the cash i might do this, or just the cleat setup, didn't realise they offered that alone. seems only sensible to get it now, considering any change of parts would be an upgrade, which would be pointless if it didn't fit.

  • I was involved in seedy one-piece lycra shenanigans with the bike whisperer in a filthy gents pissoir today.

    Highly recommended.

  • Strange.. he was still smiling. I'm guessing that means you left the Gents worse off.

  • Post some feedback as I am thinking off seeing Sheritt

no feedback needed, go book yourself in.

  • about a months wait at the moment, these people must be top notch!
