Looks great Henry. I wanna see this next thursday!

Please do not send this to armourtex. Massive waste of money. Frame looks unique. Sell it and buy a Langster Steel like Ed mentioned.

    Cheers Eddie!

  • Building up my new bike on tuesday, exciting stuff!
    Pics will come!

    Really?

  • Really like the look of this. I have a similar aged JW and love it. Nice to see another one !

  • Hi, long time reader, fist time poster.

    looks really nice, well done

  • hey all,

below are the first bits of my winter project - it's a Ukrainian KhVZ Special Edition "Meteor" track frame circa 1968, 55x56cm, nicely chromed (underneath the paint) and lugged, and a pair of vintage :) Campagnolo Record high-flange hubs. a fork is not original (due to drillings), so not much to be proud of really - should be exchanged at first chance.
anyway, planning to restore it as close to the original, as possible within my budget, in order to build a nice classic track machine :)
FYI, KhVZ stands for Kharkivsky Velosipedny Zavod (Kharkiv Bicycle Factory), and was a main producer of road and track racing bikes in USSR, with "Meteor" being one of the top track models - some sort of special tubing (Columbus? not sure), anyway quite light

  • ^^ forgot to add a very juicy detail - all of the above plus 3ttt stem cost me equivalent of $50... :)

  • ^Bastardo

  • nice to hear that someone is winning !!!!!

  • me, my bikes just cost !!!!!!!

  • Looks good, funny how we're building similar bikes, with many of the same components but the outcome will be quite different.

Mine will be ready soon, watch this space....

  • Quickly put what bits we had together for a pic before the frame goes for a paint job. Still waiting on chainring, pedals and levers to come in the post....

Frame will be off white / cream, bar tape to match the saddle.

  • My first project/conversion ever – Dawes Galaxy

  • Oh nice^
    What rims?

Would have gone with a different crankset.

  • They look a bit like the rigida aero rims to me. forgotten what they're called.

Looks amazing, I would love a bike like that for touring/messing around in the woods...so many possibilities!

Only thing i'm not digging is the brooks and cork bar ends, brooks because my arse doesn't get on with them, and I think black bar ends would finish it off a bit more nicely, but thats just an aesthetic preference, overall I think its amazing, and it makes me wanna call up Geekhouse and say build me one of them!

  • +1, i think the Brooks cork bar ends always look shit, but I'm aware that's just me.

just because the tape comes with 'em, don't mean you have to use 'em

Paint job looks perfectly good?! How come?

Are the stays & fork chromed?
