Be kind to the poor chap. Clearly, he has misunderstood what fixed bikes are about. It is perfectly in order and sensible to go brakeless before learning how to skid. Fixed bikes are not for riding in these circumstances but for wheeling around hipster-rich locations such as Shorditch and Hoxton (or ShoHo as I gather they are now calling it) in the mode of the Daddy of all Hipsters, our own dear Teenslain.
