  • Aw, sad times Mooks. I guess there's no scope for the forum darkroom then. Gutted.
I've had a missed called from a tutor at Greenwich college about open access to their darkroom. When I get details I'll let people know.

I'd love some film if you're ever closer to central or near polo / drinks.

  • I'd like some colour Kodak for my Holga if any of it is 400iso... if your willing to drop them in an envelope and post? I'd happily Paypal you a few squids for your troubles?

All the Kodak film is ISO 200 I'm afraid. I don't know though - you might be able to push it to 400 and see how it comes out when it's developed!

  • That's ok, I'll let it go to someone else. I've got a few 200s to use up.

If by any chance no-one takes it, let me know.

    Thanks mooks.

  • i'm going to sell my pentax spotmeter V. thought i would offer it on here first before ebay.
it comes with case and the instruction book and is in full working order.
    offers by P.M.

if one of you lot buys it i will lend you my copy of 'the negative' by ansel adams and 'the fine print in black and white photography' by fred picker/zone IV workshop.
the zone IV book has details of a simplified zone system that i used with the spot meter.
essential reading if you are going to use the meter and your camera to it's full potential.
i made my own zone sticker to fit the meter, once you knew how a certain tone and spot reading was going to render on the negative you could check other areas of the scene and know exactly how they would look in print.

  • i bought one of these today, as anybody seen one before?

Over 500 of these cameras were made by J Langham Thompson Ltd of Bushey Heath, Herts using Polaroid-supplied backs, based on the J66 casting, separately serial numbered. The serial number of this unit is 410/379 – B038148 (the 379th unit built using Polaroid back serial B 038148). A serial number 410/596 has been reported. This model is fitted with f/3.5 3-inch Dallmeyer Oscillograph lens in a helical focusing mount; f/2.8 version was also available. Automatic-resetting Everset shutter with B, T, 1sec, 1/2, 1/5, 1/10, 1/25, 1/50 and 1/250. Shutter flash hard wired to two large sockets on lens board beneath the lens for trace synchronization. Takes standard Polaroid Series 40 film but most likely used with 10,000 ASA Type 410 Polascope film. Fits circular mount in an oscilloscope hood and gives an object/image ratio of 1.2 to 1.7.

  • Could i dibs the infrared one and the Pan F 50 if they're still available?

    Whats Infrared Film like?

    Whats Infrared Film like?

    Post updated...

Infra-red can be a lot of fun, as long as you know how to get the most out of it. Subjects that reflect infra-red light, like leaves, appear brighter, while eyes look black... If you use a red-filter, the effect is more pronounced.

  • Mooks - could i get a couple of those XP2 400 and the HP5 400 (one of each even would be fine, if others are wanting..)

  • ooo could i get a Kodak gold as well? I love Kodak colours, so nice

  • Ok - I've updated my original post with all the dibs. Still plenty up for grabs.

  • Hey mooks, can I grab two Kodak golds and two of the Ilford HP5s? Happy to split with zero..

  • anyone got any advice on the possibility of stripping down, cleaning, rebuilding old lenses?

seen a cheap prime lense in a bit of a state.

is it worth the bother or doomed to failure.

  • If there's fungus, forget it. But if its just dust, it can be done quite easily....with a steady hand, and the right tools. I would never take apart a lens though, because if things the different sections are not correctly reinstalled, the focus will be off. Then it will have to be done all over again.

    Prices?

  • i honestly havent a clue what they are worth, maybe edscoble can shine a little light on the matter??????

  • The OM30 was Olympus first crack at autofocus (only with one lens thought), you can sell it for how much you like as long it's not unreasonable, between £15-45 for the camera with lens, price reflect on whether it's fully functional or not.

some people sell those carl zeiss lens for silly money, so you can able to make a profit on the bay if you like.

  • east german zeiss aren't worth anything are they?

  • thanks edscoble

  • I've just added one of those lovely Canonet GIII Q17s to my stable - it's in pretty much perfect condition, the only fault I've found so far is that the light seal needs replacing.

I can probably get some 2mm closed cell foam to replace it easily enough, but can anyone tell me what sorts of adhesives to avoid?

  • I use a rubber based cement called Piobond. Unfortunately its not easy to get in the UK. I had a small bottle sent over from the US years ago which is still on the go. Google may find you an equivalent. Old mouse mats can be used to make perfectly good light seals if you are handy with a scalpel.

  • Thanks for the advice Olly - I'm sure I can find an old mouse mat at home, and I have years of experience of playing with scalpels, so piobond is the missing link.

In my excitement I have already bunged a roll of film in the camera and started snapping. Having read people's reports on this camera I'm looking forward to seeing some results.

  • i love film

  • I have just started shooting Eastman Double-X. I managed to get 400ft can of date expired for £30. The results are rather good but still need to do more testing.

Kodak make two 35mm B&W motion picture film:

    Eastman Double-X 5222

    Eastman Plus-X Negative Film 5231

    Link to Technical Specification

Kodak recommend Double-X as 200 asa under tungsten and 250 for daylight. However, it has been used 200 - 800 successfully.

Plus-X was introduced in 1941 and Double-X was introduced in 1958. They are basically unchanged emulsion wise although the backing was changed slightly in the 90's to make it run smoother and quieter through the cameras.

    Development Data

You can use it just like 35mm film and develop the same, HC-110, Rodinal, D-76, Diafine etc.
