I'm abstaining from Clive0. He's just ***so ***moreish.

The North chaps only took about 8 months to stop mocking hot chocolate preference. Most soft drinks start to taste pretty disgusting after the 2nd drink, and lime and water is nicer than lime and soda, but one always needs ice.

I've beeen obsessed with making turkish-style coffee. About three cups per evening. With a bit of turkish delight on the saucer. Yum. Wow yeah I have been drinking SO much coffee its untrue! One drug takes another's place. We need to kick the LOT.

I have no trouble sleeping after coffee.

The first few days I stopped drinking i had to use Syndol* to knock myself out.

*Over the counter painkiller that contains codeine and an antihistamine for extra drowsiness. Top stuff.

@ Tommy. I know what you mean, I have a good friend who is terrible at a quiet pint. He is more of a two gears man: go hard or go home. It is usually the former.

Skully, that's crazy. Turkish coffee is the stuff that's like tar, right? Just bubbled in an open pot? Really strong?

I stopped drinking for two months over the summer (really bad time to stop). Started in September but reading this thread really makes me realise i should stop again. I don't drink alot (twice a week max.) but the cost etc is something i could do without.

wow didn’t expect such a live thread! imagined this getting battered instantly but glad it didn’t. not wanting to be seen as some über sanctimonious git just wanted to add that I don’t know that teetotal equals ultimate better health, theres that whole Med diet ting with the red vino that seems to work for many, but I do know how much steadier-grounded all over a straight edge makes.

I wouldn't go that far. I don't trust people who don't drink tea or coffee let alone anyone who describes themselves as "straight edge".

I stopped drinking at the age of 17.
11 years later i haven't had a drop since.
Hooking up with the people i used to drink with who didn't stop is 100% proof that i made the right decision.
Health > adult drinks.

'Straight Edge' was the name of a song. If you ask the writer of said song about 'being' straight edge he'll tongue lash you good. It got appropriated by all sorts of people, like that yoga nut m.f in this here thread.

Straight Edge to me will always be linked to US hardcore punk - wasn't Moby straight edge? Says it all, he is a weirdy......seriously when he speaks, I want to harm him

i'm sxe since 8 years, which means for me no alc, no cigs, no drugs, no coffee, no black or green tea and i don't missed anything in these 8 years.
