About 1991 Ernesto Colnago produced models named Carbitubo (road and timetrial, I have catalogue) custom made of ALAN. About this cyclocross model I dont know to this momment. Fork maybe not original (or not Alan product). Ernesto I mean have "doppio tube" patent, and this models is very innovative, and with VERY PRETTY Alan technology. THANK YOU FOR THIS PORN!!!!! But porn is not good term... Mr. Colnago and Mr. Falconi connecting... haha... -

Why didn't the idea catch on?
Because we all switched to clipless pedals the next year. I had several kinds of pedals with integrated clips in the early 80s, such as Shimano 600EX, Campag Triomphe and, best looking of them all, Ofmega Sintesi
but by 1985 Look had launched their click-in pedals and road racing cyclists took to them very quickly. The toe clip market was left to track and touring cyclists, who for their different reasons were not really in the market for pedals with integrated (and proprietory) clips.I've never understood why pedals are square instead of shaped more like your foot.
The inside of your shoes should be foot shaped, pedals should be the same shape as the outside of your shoe to provide a rigid fixed connection, maybe with a little free movement precisely constrained to the vertical axis only.

Shame about the shit decals. Why is it so hard to get complete black carbon bars, either risers or drops

This Alan has the Alan CX fork, presumably supplied with the Alan/Colnago too.

Tube within tube construction
Presumably this is marketing speak for a thin veneer of carbon wrapped around an aluminium bar.

http://www.effettomariposa.com/public/Alan1000.jpgThank you for this pic. I googled "carbitubo", haha, it is patent of GILBERTO COLOMBO (Trafiltubi srl manufacture, producer of Columbus tubes, and GILCO designes), used with steel frame, Ernesto used this technology for steel frames too, and 1989 producing CARBITUBO (ALANized Colnago). I recommending VERY NICE TRAFILTUBI,GILCO,COLUMBUS web pages. Real porno... I like Italian design. Innovative, modern, and easy...

one of my mates is working on new carbon tech for his masters project in engineering,
he's got hundreds of tubes, with different levels of nanotubes in each one, which he's testing for strength.
the guys a genius.I was looking into a little bit of that at Liverpool, with interest in doing a Masters in it. In the end I couldn't be fucked to do it but it's very interesting.

... The inside of your shoes should be foot shaped,** pedals should be the same shape as the outside of your shoe** to provide a rigid fixed connection, maybe with a little free movement precisely constrained to the vertical axis only.
OK, so we are not onto something here then?
If we are, then what do you reckon? Admittedly, I am mostly going on about this because I reckon the old C Records look so slick. The System Ex ones would too if they had been all steel.

i didnt say he was the real deal. i said he was the fuckin real deal. so what does that make me? hipster with tourettes?
can't help but leap to the guys defence. he's estonias finest export. if hipsters look out for their friends, then i'm guilty as charged.
But... can anything like this be bought new? A bit of Googling seems to tell me that these are from the 80s. Why didn't the idea catch on?
It seems so intuitive, I've never understood why pedals are square instead of shaped more like your foot.
