• very interesting - so why do roundabouts kill cyclists...?

    I know you mean to ask why drivers cause casualties at roundabouts--I'm just picking it up because it's always worth thinking of the people involved in traffic rather than the infrastructure that causes this behaviour.

    Basically, they are fast-moving multi-lane environments with a lot of visibility issues. They introduce detours and require much longer journeys for pedestrians and cyclists trying to avoid the roundabout, requiring them to cross at many points.
