original is best... as the designer originally intended, we have a funny thing in england with licencing basically letting anyone maek whatever furniture they want
after 50 years the patent is up and anyone can make it if it's past 50 years, that why le corb, e.gray and the modernist pieces of the 30's were big in the 80's and why eames jacobsen knoll etc from the 50's is being cheaply made in china now.
it kills the market and collectors move on.
i've dealt in 1st production eames pieces for 10 years and most collectors have sold it on to buy prouve or brazillian pieces as it's not as obvious and is far more expensive thus making it more desirable.
my best find this year was an original prouve jib wall lamp that i picked up for £350, it's worth 10 times that.
