They are the strongest frame you can buy for the money, they are standard Cro-Mo with nice chunky welds. A strong fork isn't a bad idea, but I imagine the frame will crease if you crash into a wall at high speed.
My frame is dented because I wipe out all the time and the caliper hits the frame before my bars/levers do. I removed my chainstay bridge and it wasn't easy to get through the steel at all (professional hack-saw), I also broke several drill bits when lengthening the drop-outs and they were decent HSS+ ones (going from pilot to large hole). The steel is not particularly weak, Archie frames have been improved steadily over time and are designed to be abused.
