original is best... as the designer originally intended, we have a funny thing in england with licencing basically letting anyone maek whatever furniture they want - a good example is the recent fallout with jacobsen and mcdonalds,
a flagship store in london decided to have a redesign and put some erne jacobsen egg chairs in there to make it seem plush - mcdonalds loved it! but jacobsen did not and kicked off claiming that mcdonalds shouldn't be allowed to use there iconic design piece in their shops as it would devalue them (these things cost a few grand a pop)
Mcdonalds being the sly bastards they are though got the design rolled out to hundreds of their branches around the country with cheap asian copies of the jacobsen chair.
doh. not fair on the original designer at all and legally nothing they can do about it - a lot of asian copies out there based on the original designs very different to the originals in manufacturing technique, materials and heritage!
