    Worked with wood since 18, I would not ride those bars on the roads...
    Unless it was laminated with some carbon or alloy slices. Or the road was perfectly tarmaced and pothole free.

    I was thinking of making up something like this: carbon bars with wooden rings (probs ash/elm combo 5-10mm thick) made up that are glued on with epoxy and sanded dead smooth. Prob's make up some brass bar-ends too. If somebody else was into a simple straight bar or something with a bit of sweep I might condsider looking into it more. I think your right about those bars, even skateboards are starting to use kevlar /carbon weave.
