Very impressed and intrigued by Julians knowledge of bio-mechanics in relation to cycling, the orthotics and wedge system they used to stabilize my feet, compensate for leg length differences, and alter the incorrect pronation in my right foot, worked really well and made a huge difference.
Most of all I was amazed at the difference a good saddle can make to your pedal stroke!
I had a weird movement in my hips, causing my knee to jar from side to side a little (which is obviously not healthy), most likely from the compensating I had been doing due to a lack of correction for my leg length/muscle issues in my legs. Switching to a Fizik Aliante seemed to almost instantly make a massive difference in addition to the awesome orthotics I had fitted.
What was really impressive and interesting, was the depth of the assessment and seeing how riding the way I had with my normal set up (without correction for my leg/ankle/feet issues) I had been putting 65-70% of my power through my left leg, ridiculously inefficient!
Before I tried the new saddle, the increase in seatpost height and the orthotics corrected everything so I was drifting around 52/48% (left to right) power distribution, which was a huge improvement...
However it got even better once we whacked the new saddle on, I went to pretty much perfect 50/50 sometimes hovering to 51/49% power distribution between my two legs.
I was massively impressed and could feel the huge difference in efficiency and comfort right away.
Worth every penny, my ride home was like a whole new cycling experience :)
Flipping awesome!
