Brief report - I think the cree torches are excellent value for money - the beam throw is about the width of a standard road and pavement, so plenty gets illuminated, and it's fairly far reaching (it was shining brightly on road signs around 100 metres away). Having a pair of lights (one either side of the stem) helps too I think, they look a bit like moped headlights to oncoming traffic, and I noticed that far fewer cars turned across me, and a taxi even stopped and gave way at a busy spot where that never normally happens.
The lockblocks are great, the velcro is the super-strong type, you really have to yank on it to get it to separate and undo. The plastic holder pieces are also soft rubber and automatically mould to whatever that are wrapped around, so you can really crank the velcro holding straps tight. No slippage or wobbles at all.
