Hey man, i have just finished taking all the touring parts and derailers off. It looked ratty as hell when i got it, but it's starting to show some potential. Do you know what year it is, and anything else about it?

I'm afraid i know pretty much nothing about the bike. My dad picked it up a fair few years ago from someone who was throwing it out. I haven't tried to find anything out about it because i have too many other bike related things on the go. My Dad's built it up intentionaly badly, having had a bike nicked outside a pharmacy in Camberwell not so long ago...

SP - would it be unreasonable to demand a parts list? Lust!

I've spotted an error in your picture Josh . . . cables!! Where are the brake and gear cables!!
Tut tut, do it again!

I couldn't be arsed with getting them out of their packet! Haven't unwrapped the rims either :p

matt, wack a rack on it and turn it into a fixed shopper by adding a 'borrowed' basket from Sainsbury's
I carry everything in it now, and it looks so nerdy I don't think potential thieves even give it a second glance

This was going to be my Dad's current project. But he's got so many other things on the go, I think he's planning on selling it (if you're interested BTW, let me know).
Can't remember how old it is, but it's really old! -

Very nice pic, softbox firing from the top right of the image back and diagonally across if i'm not mistaken?
Also, I met your "flatmate to be" Ummar last night, that was funny, never normally run into forum peeps at work, I had to cover a viewing because some lightweight bunked off sick!

Now Josh I hope you're going to let the paint harden for a few weeks somewhere warm before building all that up ...
That picture is 'fucking lush' (as you might put it). So are the components and extras. The white decals are great btw.
Question: where'd you get the Honjos? And where are the stays?
Have fun building it.

Yeah Ummar mentioned it! Shame I couldn't make it.
Is that photographic talk up top? it was taken on a white sheet in the very last of Saturday afternoon's light. The original image was dark and blue. No decent equipment other than a smart camera (Canon 40d I believe). I just zapped the shit out of it in potatochop.

So this is where i'm standing atm...
I knew there was some of us ( well....the colnago is yours, no?) trying to achieve what you did SP... I mean, I wish I had done it as good as yours. But the intention was there ; )

I might wait OR I might just be dead careful with it. Hmm. I take your point but I'm not sure I can wait.
I'm mostly very pleased with the paint. Thanks for your advice therein.
Honjos from Planet X. They're narrow at 35mm. Stays are out of shot in a bag. See first picture.

Yeah it was really funny, I saw his bike and we started talking, then the forum came into conversation, and I was like are you on there and he said yeah, and I said i'm CrazyJames, and he was like ahhhh so ***you're CrazyJames, ***haha I always seem to provoke that kinda reaction?!
Anyways it was cool meeting him and talking bikes, maybe catch up with you sometime as well soon mate, oh yeah ignore the photographic geekery, I thought you shot it with flash. -

I have that exact same Carlton frame-set - same paint job and everything.
Make that three of us! I've managed to bend the chainring on mine though - proper nightmare to find any replacement parts, even the chainring bolts have to be imported from the US.

Should have the year stamped as part of the serial number on the BB shell. Mine's from 1975 - same model, paint job etc etc

IRLeo That's what I just asked him, when I asked where he got his Honjos (the name of them). Planet X. They're nice innit! But not cheap.

hehe, yeh just saw that, i should have read the whole thread really. Certainly not cheap but you get what you pay for, eh? And sometimes there is no way round it. I got some similar on ebay last spring second hand which cost even more (but that was mainly cos of one of those bidders who keeps pushing it up rather than just deciding whar their max bid is), which went on my girlfriends bike, which I posted up here.
Yep, I have to say this is one of the best bike photo's on here. You'll have to keep up the quality for the finished photo. I'm looking forward to that one.
Nice work.
