  • me unceremoniously falling on my arse whilst doing a rolling unclip at 0mph just outside the Sainsbury in Merton, when moving cleats hit wet granite. The security guard did rush up and ask if I was alright bless him, I explained that is was all planned and a subtle ploy to see if he was watching, he grinned at me and I walked to the bike stand only to realise I'd left my lock at home, so then had to do the walk of shame back out again to ride home and get it.
    FAIL.

  • Smooth Madam, very smooth.

  • I'm not the only one having a terrible morning, then.

  • May have been, I was drunk, it was dark. I remember red frame, little wheels? front wheel had a spoke card, I looked over and I got a nice smile and nod.

I think JAH_Tim has 26" wheels, so does sound like him, and so does the friendliness.

  • made eye contact with a man on a bike with a black front aerospoke & red/purple rear wheel, going west on oxford street.

then crazyjames going round old street roundabout with lots of things hanging off him.

  • Emilia, possibly, sampling the wares at the Brunswick food market. It was my lunchtime, and I was running an errand for my assistant, so I didn't bother with introductions. I think she still hates me after the frank admission of newly discovered well-honed-ankle-in-Sidi-lust-phenomenon-without-any-intended-objectification anyway.

  • Repped!

  • You should have said hi! (I was too busy objectifying cakes to remember about the Sidi-lust (which I'd forgotten about anyway).)

  • You looked engrossed. It felt like it would be a weird moment to say, "aren't you that person off the forum, yeah, I'm off the forum too, aren't we a sad pair, etc"

I'll stop being so shy next time.

    Nice shoes, BTW ;)

  • Cliveo, stuck in traffic hell that is Camberwell. Dude I see you more in the landrover than on your bike.

  • @ BringMeMyFix : 'and I was running an errand for my assistant...'

sounds like an awesome assistant-job....get the boss to do it for you ;-)

  • I don't really recognise authority much, including my own.

  • Citygent. I was diving my wife and daughter to Muddy Hell wishing that I was on my bike. A non riding but drinking wife is a problem when it comes to dispensing with a car.

  • I gave 'em up 5 years ago. Bikes are better.

  • fiddy, you are, as always, quite correct.

  • Today: Mentally-Challenged James and Sporty George telling a colleague of mine to do a skid on his bosses track bike. He respectfully declined the invitation and hot-tailed it back into the safety of the shop. I had to console him with beer and donuts, he was so shaken by the ordeal. You see fellas, he's a simple 'stralian with no experience of fixie-wheel cycle bikes.

    Good to see you two!

Also I saw (briefly) oliver for the second time in 2 days at muddy hell, as well as furious tiles, the brick, mr smyth, skoota, flatlander, and loads of others.

And I saw sammy hot-tailing it away from herne hill in some weird enclosed four wheeled bike which was really loud and made BRRM BRRUM noises.

  • brian haw: not much of a peace protestor more like sanctimonious cunt. tried to talk to him about fridays arrest "fuck off mate i can't give you my life story why don't you fucking come down here and do something about it you fucking dickhead" what? and become an aggressive disillusioned twat? through his self righteous bigotry he was unable to even listen to me try to explain my own anti war efforts in brighton and my own farcical legal case. what a fucking dick head. why the fuck is he standing in the street if he isn't even willing to talk to the public? what a twat. all these people hail him as some kind of saint when really he displays as much hot-air and needless hostility as the ones that he vilify's so much.

  • Maybe he feels actions speak louder with words?

Anyway, to be able to focus on a goal, that incudes massive amounts of isolation (in many senses), wouldn't it be possible that if he was never very social to begin with?

  • even if someone is not very social, i hardly think saying "hey, i heard you got arrested on friday? how did that go?" merits that kind of response.

    with such wide aims as

He protests on behalf of those innocent people who suffer and die in other countries, as our governments seek to further their own economic, military, politcial and strategic interests around the world.
how does he expect to achieve anything? i think there are more effective ways to achieve real change than this. for example, a campaign with clear aims, clear plans to achieve them, PR, dialogue witht those who actually make laws. camping in parliament square for 8 years in some limp-dicked protest? what an achievement. you really stuck it to the man. the elitism of this kind of thing is shocking, some other guy who was there just sat there as if it was completely reasonable to verbally attack someone who was trying to show you support.

it seems like such a shame because i went there under the impression he would be somewhat inspirational to meet. it feels like the time i realised that jesus probably wasn't the son of god, just some guy with a beard.

for example, the campaign i was supported in brighton has the aim to stop EDO manufacturing military components (they also produce civilian products), because of the contribution they make to needless war. their methods of doing this involve non violent direct action - weekly noise protests outside EDO, larger national gatherings, raising awareness in the community. this has proved effective - EDO has lost many staff thus reducing its output, and closed down one of their factories in brighton. whilst there are still problems with the campaign (demonstrations becoming a nuisance to local residents for example), this goes to show what can be achieved with clear aims, proper organisation and planning. i recommend you watch on the verge, a film about the campaign.

  • Yesterday mr blackfoot & friends in the one tun on goodge street - nice to see ya matey!

  • BMMF and other Rollaopossas on the road up to Theydon Bois from Hobbs Cross at about 10 00 am this morning.

I assume you were wisely going home

  • I thought that was you - and I'd just passed Dave & Anna on the bridge over the motorway only minutes before that. Not really a day to sit up and wave, what with 30mph gusting winds.

After passing you, we did a loop through the forest, including Mott St - you know, for the sake of nostalgia. I was an embarrassment to my former self, but that's okay, as this coming year (Matthew), I'm going to be a trackie.

We did a 40 mile loop, plus my 7 miles each way to the Town Hall. It was, er, life-affirming. Poor bikepusher (George) stacked it on the cattlegrid at the top of Forest Rd, seconds after waving us farewell, but I think he's relatively unscathed.

Hope you enjoyed the leaves, water, branches, and potholes.

  • spotted pajamas, Furious Tiles, Gina and someone else who I don't know (hi!) at Holloway Road Cycle Surgery last night.
