classic ahistorical cultural ignorance. there wasn't, only a few decades ago, a big anti-homphobia movement in Britain. i'm not sure it's that big even now but some progress has been made. there are very courageous people in the regions you mention trying to bring about similar progress.
and what's this getting offended on behalf of other people? Sounds like Thatcherite there-is-no-such-thing-as-society. Can't one just be offended? it's not the same as speaking on behalf of other people; a lot of which goes on on this very forum.
