  • no there is no one product to do it all. however a gore N2S softshell will do most of it and an e-vent/goretex or similar waterproof will do for the downpours. endura have now dropped e-vent for a cheaper but allegedly similar performing product.
    the thicker softshells seem to be sweat prone unless it's near freezing but the thinner ones work well (for me) use either of the above with a merino baselayer.
    i have a thin windproof but haven't tried it yet. not as warm as a softshell or waterproof but still handy if you layer up underneath.

    i am done with cheap jackets they all seem to be compromised in some way, you get what you pay for. the only cheap jacket i still use is a top made with a windtex front panel and roubaix sleeves which never gets too sweaty but stays warm.
