Looking for a small and cheap laptop for note taking and internet browsing. Full sized keyboard and light weight is may main concern. Was thinking about the EeePC 1000HE. Light, more-or-less full sized keyboard (I read something that compared it to the keyboards on Mac Books?).
friend of mine got an eeepc about 8 months ago. keyboard was 96% of full size, so hardly noticeable difference. it was about 200 quid from what i remember. he's got ubuntu on it, so free software, and he loves it - totally portable (he carries it everywhere) and does everything he wants (internet, note taking, document editing, etc).
my parents just got an eeepc as well - again, not sure about the model number, but so far they are liking it. only thing they don't like is they can't figure out how to register the windows office software: it keeps asking them to buy the whole office suite for ever (100 quid) before it will let them continue, and they don't want to spend any more money as this was meant to be a cheap laptop they can carry around with them. they've agreed for me to install ubuntu on it for them, so i'm going to do that this weekend.
i may consider getting one of these for me, too - although my newest computer is the g2 hero (android phone) which allows me to run linux and to have a portable wireless internet enabled computer in my back pocket. only gripe is that the keyboard is a bit small (i can't do touch-typing of the standard variety!)
