ouch. where was this?
-
• #3
yes, get medical evidence asap.
:edit: dont know whether it would be better seeing a police surgeon - hospital / gp records would suffice in any event.

Fuckin' heavy. At least you got his reg. Go to the cop shop, cuts, bruises and all, and get the book thrown at this guy. You got off light, but someone playing fast and loose with my LIFE is not something I'd take lightly.
-
• #5
That is utterly horrific and downright disgusting behaviour, you should not have been in his way. Jokes aside, what was his registration and where did this happen?
-
• #6
a gp would be fine, get them to examine your injuries, record them, and do drawings. and take pictures yourself with a witness. if you make <£7G a year ish you can get free legal advice.

There seems to be quite a bit of this going on at the mo

Sounds like good evidence for an allegation of attempted murder. You don't have to prove intent at this stage just that the act, intentional, put your life in danger.
Go to a Police station with all the details and ask to speak to one of the area crime team.Do not deal with this as a RTA:

Some people are such utter fucking wankers. Do the twat for as much as possible. Had he been successful you would not be posting but in a morgue.
I hope the injuries are not too bad.

Thanks, dads gone to police station to get assault form. I'm still shaken up so don't feel that great to be going there myself.
This took place on lansdowne drive between croston street and broadway market, next to london fields. He sped off towards mare street.
Reg is GL54 OPA. I think its a plumbing company van, both men were wearing company uniform of some sort. I couldnt make it out though.

Do you reckon i should be there in person, or is photos and gp evidence enough?

A couple of hours ago I was intentionally run down and doored by a white van man who took offence to me being in his way on the road. He undertook me and swerved while opening his door to push me off into oncoming traffic. I went flying face first to the floor, and he got out and shouted at me again and got back into his van to drive off at speed.
Luckily I got his reg, but only 1 witness saw it, who i have the details of. Pretty bruised up and a few cuts. Bike is battered, and a mechanic friend has recorded damage.
I didn't call 999 but called the police switchboard instead and have a incident number, and will be getting an assault form from the police tonight.
I had a bit of read of the accident thread. Do i need to get doctor of hospital evidence of my injuries if I want him taken to court? I spoke to a doctor who said it would be better to have a police surgeon document it, but I don't know about this.
Anyone got other advice?
Thanks.
Insane behaviour, he has to be taken off the streets, Good luck with the police, can I suggest this is posted as Rider Down, so that it can be included in cyclist incidents?
Heal soon, do you have a lawyer yet? If not contact the LCC or the CTC who will help, if I can offer any advice, just PM me...

Have you complained to the owners of the plumbing company?
I'm sure they'd like to hear about dangerous driving by their employees, esoecially if it brings their reputation into disrepute.

This is a disgrace. Is there any way we can find out which company owns the van? If signwritten, and not a sole trader in his own wagon, the owners will probably take a dim view of thier vehicle being used to endanger the lives of fellow road users.

unfortunately, you should probably be at the police station. they will generally take things more seriously if you are there in person. Plus they are likely to get the forensic photographer to take photo's of the injuries... which is much better than a sketch done by a gp.

follow the accident thread recommendations at this point read https://www.londonfgss.com/thread4213.html
from that excellent post (do read it)
"- If you are hurt, don't be a tough guy. Go to the hospital/your GP. Get a letter from them explaining your injuries. While a good case of road rash may not be life-threatening it may make you unable to ride/walk/work properly. This is important to note. If you get a later infection or later bone/muscle problems it will make it trickier to prove.
- If you have adreneline pumping through your veins you may not realize you are injured - go to the hospital.
- If you have a scrapped up knee, you are injured, go to the hospital.
- I have straight forwardly been told by the police to go to the hospital if there is any injury at all. Tell the doctor that you will be taking the case to court and could s/he please take detailed notes.
- I have also been told by the cops to take pictures once the swelling/bruising sets in, in other words when it looks really bad. The cops want to punish people, they need evidence to do this."
*** Start taking pictures now ***
- cuts
- swelling
- any marks/damage to your gear.
photos in a day or two of your bruises, ALL of them.
and yup, go to the Police station.
- If you have adreneline pumping through your veins you may not realize you are injured - go to the hospital.

Googling tells me that this is a Volkswagen T-sporter T30 130 Tdi Lwb (Panel Van).
Did it look like this one? - they're based in East London.

I fear he might not have seen the whole thing, but enough to get more details and see me going down I think. Also I went back and recovered a drinks bottle that fell out his van when he opened the door. I will get a written note from the go tomorrow morning unless police say otherwise. There is CCTV nearby as well but not sure how useful this is.

try to get the cctv sharpish. depending on who runs the camera, it might get overwritten.
